AIB joins TVBEurope 00 conference

Preparations for this year's TVBEurope 2020 conference are shifting into high gear with the addition of the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) as a key industry partner.

In addition to playing an advisory role in developing the conference, AIB will be drawing on its global membership and wealth of broadcast expertise to turn TVBEurope 2020 into a truly global forum. AIB members will also receive a fixed early bird discount on tickets for the conference.

This year's TVBEurope 2020 conference will include sessions on the future of broadcast in an IP world, the evolution of industry standards, and a working example of live IP production. The conference will again take place at London's prestigious BAFTA on Tuesday, 28 June.

It has been my aim for some time to establish collaborative partnerships with key industry bodies and associations, and securing an agreement with AIB for this year's conference is a significant step forward in achieving that goal, said James McKeown, content director at NewBay Media and editor-in-chief of TVBEurope. Collaboration is a talking point in the industry at present, and that extends to the media outlets providing independent coverage of the sector. Partnerships such as this will only make our output stronger and more informed, and I'm excited by the prospect of working closely with the AIB henceforth.

It's great to be involved with an event that is helping to inform the conversation about the future of media, commented Simon Spanswick, AIB chief executive. Many of the AIB Members with whom I talk say that developing future strategies is now more complex and challenging than ever before. Events that bring into clear focus new ways of working as well as highlighting new opportunities are extremely important. That's why the Association is pleased to be involved with this forward-looking conference.

AIB was formed in 1993 as a trade organisation to support the free exchange of information across borders. Its members now include the world's major broadcasters and news agencies, including the BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, RT Channel, France 24, Euronews, Deutsche-Welle and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

On the technology side, TVBEurope 2020 has again partnered with IABM (International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers). And IABM director of technology and strategic insight, John Ive, will reprise his role as conference chairman.
