OTTtv World Summit 2015: At the conference, Conax Principal Architect to share key insight on securing Android TV

The presentation will highlight key operator concerns, main specifications for Android TV, pros and cons, and how to harden content protection on Android TV.
-Tor Helge Kristiansen, EVP Principal Architect at Conax, Android TV as a platform is still young, but has the potential to become an excellent platform for bringing the Internet experience to the TV platform. Users can view all the content they love on their Android phone also on the big screen through an enabled ecosystem of apps.
- As Android TV is a flexible and versatile platform it creates a very complex environment to secure. An extensive range of features and functionality creates a large attack surface. The most critical platform security challenge is basically that the platform can run apps coming from untrusted sources.
- Key to securing operator content revenue is ensuring that the high security broadcast environment is isolated properly from the Android app framework where untrusted apps can be running. There are a number of well-known technologies available to implement such separation. However, at Conax we believe that we can achieve an even higher level of security than offered by separation technologies alone.
