MMG Commiions BFE with Upgrade of R OB Van

(14/03/2014) Media Mobil GmbH, OB Vans, subsidiary of DREFA Media Holding GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Mitteldeutschen Rundfunk, commissions BFE Studio and Medien Systeme GmbH as a system integrator for upgrading the R2 OB Van with HDTV technology.

The OB Van is designed for different production requirements and complies with the new technical ARD and ZDF standards. Events from sports (National League 3) and culture (smaller TV shows, transmission of worship) can easily be realized. The R2 is equipped with five HDTV cameras of the LDX Flex 80 type from Grass Valley. For the distribution of signals, an HD compact 128x128 router and a two-stage vision mixer are used for image manipulation. The control system emphasizes absolute reliability and flexibility, using the command and control system, KSC, developed by BFE. An extended server system, supported by two P2 VTRs, is used for recording and image processing.

Displays from the BON company, with integrated quad, memos and signaling information, are installed for display in the individual production areas.

In addition to the external connection for video and audio through the integration of the Lawo V-Pro 8 device type, an audio system of the VISTA 5 from Studer is installed. A separate streaming channel remains reserved for the new WEB-format.

Realization by BFE is achieved in a very short time and is carried out at the headquarters in Mainz. Josef Jung-Fridrich, a new member of the BFE OB Van team, is the project manager.
