South African actress and TV host Pearl Thusi, has endorsed an online petition calling for Netflix's African series, Queen Sono, to be renewed.

QUEEN SONO PETITION GAINS MOMENTUM Pearl Thusi played the lead role in Queen Sono. The series was canceled in November 2020 and she was heartbroken after Netflix pulled the plug on the series. A petition has been created to bring the series back, and it is gaining traction again. The petition's target is 500 signatures and it has already garnered over 337 signatures.

Queen Sono is a Netflix SA original that changed a lot of lives forever. A series that gave us a beautiful perspective on what it is like living on the diverse continent of Africa. A series that gave strength & a voice creatively to African men and women alike So why is it that Queen Sono has not got the green light on another season when it had so much support before the pandemic? said Alicia Harris who started the petition.

Pearl has openly expressed her disappointment regarding the cancellation of the show on social media. The actress has endorsed Alicia's petition for the series to be renewed for another season.

NETFLIX CONFIRMED QUEEN SONO'S' CANCELLATION IN 2020 A Netflix spokesperson confirmed to ZAlebs in 2020 that the series had been canceled due to production challenges that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They said in a brief statement, We've made the difficult decision not to move forward with season two of Queen Sono
