RT at Cork Film Festival 2015

The festival, which is in its 60th year, opened on Friday November 6th, and RT is proud to be the Principal Partner. Each year the city transforms into a major hub for the international film industry, and RT , Ireland's national public service media organisation, will be at the heart of it all as it is every day at its southern studio base on Fr Mathew's Quay.

RT will capture all the action on-air and online across radio, television, mobile and online. RT is involved in various events, including;

A live performance by the RT Concert Orchestra of the score to David Lean's romantic masterpiece, Brief Encounter, on the Cork Opera House stage on Saturday 7 November.

Premiere screening of Yo Cambio, a documentary about a self-governing prison in El Salvador and part of RT 's long running global affair series What in the World? This will be followed by Q&A session with human rights filmmaker Peadar King on Sunday 8 November.

RT Cork will present the Grand Prix for Best Irish Short in the closing weekend of the festival. The prize includes 1500 plus a screening of the winning short on RT 2. For the first time ever, the winner will be put forward to the Oscars longlist for consideration.

RT jr presenter Emma O'Driscoll will attend the special sing-along screening of Disney's beloved FROZEN in the Cork Opera House led by the Youth Choir of Cork's Montfort Performing Arts Academy on Sunday 8 November.

RT News Southern Editor Paschal Sheehy will chair a discussion post screening of Those Who Feel The Fire Burning on Tuesday 10 November.

Claire Byrne will chair a panel discussion on The Relevance and Future of Irish Content in the Broadcast Media' hosted by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland on Thursday 12 November. Among the media panellists is Glen Killane, Managing Director, Television, RT .

Colm Crowley, Head of Production at RT Cork will host the Film Finance Symposium event with various media panellists including Niamh O'Connor, RT 's Head of Factual Documentary & Arts on Thursday 12 November.

RT 's studio in Cork will host a masterclass with Brian Newman, one of the world's leading media and distribution consultants, as part of the festival's Talent Development Campus on Friday 13 November.

Glen Mulcahy, RT 's Innovation Lead, will present a talk on new technology used in movie making, from low-cost drones to 360 immersive video, as part of Interactive@Cork on Friday 13 November while Colm O'Callaghan, RT 's Head of Irish Language Programmes, Science and Education will participate on the festival's Documentary Jury.

Festival guests will be dropping by the RT Cork studio to chat with Today presenters Maura Derrane and D ith S . Also on RT One, Nationwide will feature a piece on Wednesday 4 November while on RT Radio 1, Arena will interview some of the filmmakers in attendance. Online, news and updates will feature on RT .ie, RT Ten and RT Archives will look back at the Festival's 60 year history with special clips and features from years gone by. RT Player and RT Player International will host a selection of the Best of Irish Shorts that have previously screened at the Festival and the RT Guide also give their top festival picks in this week's issue.

RT Supporting the Arts, which supports over 100 regional arts events annually, is also a key supporter of Cork Film Festival.
