Drum and amp; Ba Legend Roni Size Joins Pro7ect 07s Impreive Producer Roster

Pro7ect is delighted to announce that Mercury Award-winning Producer and DJ Roni Size is taking part in Pro7ect 2017, an annual songwriters retreat hosted by Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton.

A Bristol native, Ronis unique approach to music production has earned him many accolades and marked him out as a true pioneer. His ability to create fresh sounds and styles has given electronic music and entirely new direction by allowing it to move from its original club base to large arenas and festivals stages. Reprazent, the drum and bass collective he founded in the mid-1990s, took the world by a storm when their New Forms LP won the Mercury Music Prize. The album quickly went platinum thanks to modern day classics such as Watching Windows, Heroes and Brown Paper Bag.

We are absolutely thrilled that a producer of Ronis calibre has signed up for the Pro7ect experience, says singer/songwriter Lisa Fitzgibbon, who co-founded Pro7ect with Ivor Novello nominated producer/composer Ian Wallman. Roni has played a pivotal role in developing a musical genre that has become main-stream, and our dedicated Drum & Bass studio is going to erupt! Roni is a total bonus to the Pro7ect experience for all of us.

Ronis production credits span dozens of labels, projects and releases and he has worked with many ground-breaking artists including hip-hop legend Method Man, Rage Against The Machine s Zac de la Rocha and beat-box master Rahzel. More recently he collaborated with the BBCs Natures Great Events composer, William Goodchild, to mark the re-opening of Bristols Colston Hall. The gig, complete with an orchestra and choir, was an enormous success and rightly dubbed the show that we ll be talking about for years to come.

During the entire Pro7ect 2017 retreat, which runs from 12th 17th March, 2017, he will operate one of four pop up studios at Hotel Pelirocco, each of which is equipped with the latest recording technology. He joins a stellar cast of producers that have already committed to the event, including Youth, John Fortis, Andrew Levy, Stew Jackson and Liam Howe.

Pro7ect 2017 gives songwriters and artists the opportunity to work with A-list producers to write, record and produce great music. The stimulating setting of the Hotel Pelirocco adds an additional element of creativity to the experience. The hotel has 19 individually themed rooms, each reflecting a different aspect of RocknRoll culture, and since its inception it has attracted many celebrity and music industry guests including the Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Scissor Sisters, New Order, Chrissie Hynde and the Chemical Brothers.

The Pro7ect experience is highly collaborative and often results in a large volume of material being written and recorded in a very short pace for time. In 2016, for example, 14 participating songwriters and artists wrote and recorded 15 songs in four days. Unlike many songwriting retreats, Pro7ect aims to sell the tracks that are written at the event to help propel participants into the sync and publishing arena. Two songs from Pro7ects 2015 retreat have been releases by UK artist Elle Exxe and there are several sync options on songs from this years event.

For the duration of Pro7ect, participants work in producer-led teams to write and record a track a day for four days. The teams are changed each day and the songs are either written for one of the artists in the room or to spec using tip sheets. Every evening there is a feedback session where teams play the result of their days work to the entire group.
