It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man - surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. It is Monday, 23 January 2023.

God had made you his son and his Heir. We all are part of the family of God when we receive His Holy Spirit and become true confessed faithful people. To become a member of the family of God does not depend on any earthly connection. No, it comes not by natural birth but by new birth, new birth in Christ.

The Bible called true Christians a family'' because they have all one father they are all sons and daughters of the Lord. True Christians are also called the family of God because they are all led by one Spirit- there is a general spiritual resemblance among them as sons and daughters of the Lord Almighty.

Some of God's family are safe in heaven. They are at a place of rest Lord Jesus calls Paradise''(Luke 23:43). They have finished their course, fought the battles and carried their cross. They now just await the resurrection of their own bodies and the gathering together of all believers.

Some of God's family are still on earth- we refer to us who still have the opportunity to meet Christ and to confess Him as our Savior and only King. We are still carrying our daily crosses, learning our lessons and are still troubled by sin and temptation. As a family of Christ, we should stay focused on the One on the Cross, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.

When we were spiritually born into God's family, we immediately received our birthday presents such as the family name, the family likeness, family privileges and the family inheritance. These are the benefits of being in God's family too. All that we can do is to thank our Heavenly Father for making us part of His forever family and blessings and to ask Him to help us to walk in the fullness of His Spirit today. This will mean that Jesus Christ will be manifested through everything that we are doing.

PRAYER Thank You Lord for your holy presence in our lives. Thank You for allowing us to be part of Your family. Thank You for all Your blessings. We praise You for Your goodness to us although we are so sinful. Amen.

Ons is geneig om te leef asof ons op onsself aangewese is-ons maak staat op ons eie kragte en insigte. Die Bybelse denke oor mense is heeltemal verskillend.

Augustinus het die kerk familie Dei (Die familie van God) genoem. In hierdie familie van God bestaan ook groot meningverskille. Binne hierdie familie is daar ook pynlike ervaringe van lede. Maar die belangrikste is dat ons aan mekaar behoort deur Jesus Christus onse Here. In die familie van God is daar verskillende stadiums van geloofsgroei en dit is elkeen van ons se taak om mekaar te ondersteun en te motiveer tot volle geloofsgroei in God.

Kom ons kyk vandag in die spieel en vra die vraag: Is ek nog deel van God se familie? Moenie dat ons rondgaan en vertel dat ons deel van God se familie is, maar ons dade spreek die teenoorgestelde. Ons dade moet in lyn wees met die familie waaraan ons behoort.

Laat ons in 2023 opnuut weer n keuse maak om aan God se familie te behoort. Kom ons neem n vergrootglas en kyk na ons dade en maak absoluut seker dat daar niks is wat ons ontmoedig om deel van hierdie familie te wees nie. Ons moet juis inteendeel dade doen wat ons sal honger maak om deel van God se familie te word.

Kom ons word gewoond aan hierdie familie. Soek hulle op en ons gaan n ewigheid saam met hulle wees.

GEBED Dankie Vader dat U die Vader van ons familie is. Dankie dat U nog voordat die wereld geskep is, ons uitverkies het om deel van U familie te wees. Help ons om ten alle tye U troon te nader en U aangesig op te soek. Maak ons ware famililielede met dade wat by U familie pas. Amen.
