VSNEXPLORER: la m s importante herramienta de VSN
The idea of VSN arose back in the early 90's at a national technology fair, where our founder, Jordi Utiel, and our current CTO, Manuel Escribano, bonded and exchanged views on where technology was headed. At a moment in time when 1Gb networks and advanced storage systems started to develop, Jordi and Manuel came to the decision that it was the right time to take the leap towards the video market and the management of heavy files. They had a clear goal in mind: VSN would go hand in hand with technological innovation for the years to come to accommodate the technological needs of the rapidly evolving Spanish media and broadcast industry. Little did they know that VSN would far exceed this prospect, becoming the most influential Spain-based IT company of the broadcast world.
The idea of an IT company specialized in providing technological solutions to the media and broadcast industry swiftly took shape, and VSN started running as early as 1990 with the creation of the Tapeless concept (TV without tapes). Beginning with the selling of real-time recording video cards, the first file-based continuity system was designed, and VSN grew along with the technological expansion of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. To meet the demands of the news industry and to digitize the news environment, VSN partnered with Sony to monetize DVLince Archives at national level in 2002 and 2003. This system was a simple C++ programmed desktop application that managed tape content for video consolidation, ingest, and rental purposes. Concurrently, VSN decided toindependently put forward broadcast management and developed advanced automation solutions, such as VSNMATIC, VSNNEWS, and VSNNET SHARER.
It was in 2004, with a highly successful project in Mexico, that VSN became more independent, and seized the opportunity to set foot in the international market. We started to distribute our own video management and editing software solutions, including VSNSCENES and VSNWIRES, and soon became acclaimed worldwide with the launching of new recording formats in disk Sony XDCAM and Panasonic P2. Then, circa 2009, with the implementation of a distributed architecture, we began to host components on dedicated servers, thus gaining even more recognition in the field of information technology.
In 2012, our development team finished off what is the most remarkable engineering conception of our history: VSNEXPLORER. This fully fledged, state-of-the-art HTML5 programmed web application is a robust thin client solution for media management that more and more top-notch national and international companies are interested in. Its multimodular design has allowed for the integration of third-party applications for business processes (following FIMS specifications) and BPM, such as Activiti (2013), and business intelligence, such as Spago (2015). Currently, our company delivers more than 50 software modules for automation, news, graphics, content management and file exchanges for the media and broadcast industry, being present in the main international markets.
