Pebble Beach Systems awarded contract to supply ingest system to Intigral in Dubai 14 Mar 2014

Leading automation, content management and integrated channel specialist, Pebble Beach Systems, announced at CABSAT today that it has secured a contract to supply Marina automation and 8 channels of its Dolphin integrated channel technology to provide a new ingest system for Intigral, the Dubai-based aggregator and distributor of digital media to regional telecommunications operators.

First Marina / Dolphin Deployment in UAE

The system represents the first deployment of Marina driving Dolphin in the UAE, and enables ingest from tape and from live sources, with scheduled record also provided for. Ingested media is recorded via SDI onto Dolphin's internal storage via 8 ingest ports which allow up to 8 concurrent ingest jobs, and in parallel onto external Isilon storage. Operators can select codecs and wrappers from within the Marina user interface, and monitor both video and audio during the ingest process using Marina's IP output. In addition to the ingest client workstations, the system also offers 2 high resolution clients for viewing, trimming and segmenting the ingested material.

Integration into fully IP workflow

Once ingested via SDI, files are delivered into Intigral's exclusively IP workflow for distribution to regional telecommunication operators. The fast turnaround project will be supplied via local integrator Teksignals, and is due to be commissioned shortly.

Further Dolphin Deployments

London-based Arabic HD channel Al Ghad Al Arabi, has also deployed a Pebble Beach Systems automation solution driving a Dolphin integrated channel device. The system, which went on air at the end of 2013, provides fully redundant playout and content management for the broadcaster's file-based workflow. Files are transferred via FTP from Egypt to nearline storage, and then quality controlled by the automation system before being automatically moved to the Dolphin server when confirmed as ready for playout. The system also delivers news playout for the Avid newsroom system, using the MOS interface. Dolphin natively handles the Avid files, playing them back to back with no need for transcoding.

Over 300 Middle East channels on air under Pebble automation, new contracts in Libya, Saudi

Samir Isbaih confirms: We continue to add to the growing number of channels on air in the region, with Dubai's DMI now on air with 12 channels controlled by our Neptune automation solution, in a system which incorporates ingest, redundant playout, content management and archive management.

In addition, we will shortly be embarking on new contracts with state broadcasters in both Libya and Saudi. We are proud to be considered the provider of choice in this important and quality-conscious market, and our systems now control over 300 channels in the region.
