METLIFE RECOGNIZED AS MILITARY FRIENDLY EMPLOYER FOR FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW NEW YORK, November 11, 2015 MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) today announced it has been recognized as a Military Friendly Employer by G.I. Jobs magazine. This is the fourth year in a row MetLife has been recognized for its commitment to hiring veterans and fostering a culture that honors the experiences, traits and skills of those who have served or continue to serve their country.

G.I. Jobs magazine compiles an annual list of Military Friendly Employers to recognize companies with supportive policies, including recruiting efforts, retention programs and support for National Guard and Reserve service.

MetLife employee Ross Carkeet joined MetLife after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army. My experience as a leader in a technological field benefits MetLife greatly in my daily interactions with people, said Ross, director of video services engineering. The skills and traits I developed in the military helped my transition and I was able to be effective from the first day on the job, inspiring the team to achieve and succeed.

MetLife has a long tradition of supporting both active and former military service members. The company provides veteran-to-veteran mentorship initiatives as well as career support, mentoring opportunities and policies to support of employees while deployed, including continuation of many benefits.

Having the ability to bring in more veterans and create a veteran-friendly atmosphere is extremely important to me, said Jess Thompson, a senior underwriter at MetLife and veteran of the Army Military Police. MetLife has not only allowed me to do this, but has encouraged it.

The MetLife Veterans Network (MVET) is an employee-founded and employee-run resource group focused on recruiting military veterans and supporting their career growth at MetLife. Members of MVET, which is open to all employees, donate their time to promote the goal of attracting and retaining military veterans at MetLife, as well as building a working culture that values veterans and their contributions.
