Game on! Where and when to watch The Last of Us' in SARave reviews are streaming in for The Last of Us'. Here's where to watch the small-screen adaptation of the epic survival horror game.

If early reviews for the live-action TV series adaptation of Sony's insanely popular video game, The Last of Us, are anything to go by, it looks like we're onto a winner maybe even a masterpiece made for TV.

It has been hailed as the best video game adaptation ever made by critics on Rotten Tomatoes and The Guardian calls it bigger, scarier, unforgettable . Oh, and fans have apparently been reduced to tears while watching the first episode which premiered on HBO Max in the United States on 15 January, according to LADBible.

Where and when to watch The Last of Us' in SA So if you are still in the dark as to where and when you can tune in to watch The Last of Us in South Africa, here we go!

Due to the fact that HBO Max is not available in South Africa, The Last of Us follows the same game plan as shows such as Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. This means you'll have to accept the fact that you either have to stay up until the early hours of the morning (03:00 to be precise) to watch express from the United States on DStv Channel 101, or wait until 21:00 for the broadcast.

Episodes will also be available on Showmax a day after the M-Net broadcast.

From survival horror game to high-gloss zombie thriller The Last of Us is based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same name, which was developed by Naughty Dog and written by Neil Druckmann exclusively for the PlayStation platforms.

According to EW, The Last of Us sold 1.3 million units within its first three days in 2013, the biggest gaming launch of the year at that time. Three weeks later, it became the biggest launch of an original game since 2011.

The Mandalorian and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal is Joel, a hardened survivor hired to smuggle (very reluctantly) the 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey: His Dark Materials and Game of Thrones) out of an oppressive quarantine zone in Boston.

What starts as a seemingly small mission sets Joel and Ellie on a brutal and heart-breaking odyssey American wasteland, with both having to rely on each other for survival.

A slew of top actors completes the rest of the cast: From Gabriel Luna (True Detective) as Joel's younger brother, Tommy, to Merle Dandridge (The Last of Us video games, The Flight Attendant) as the Firefly resistance leader Marlene. Another key character, Tess, a smuggler and partner of Joel's, is played by Anna Torv (Mindhunter).
