Ningbo, a Leader in Multilevel Rural Tourism

With a purpose of aggregating resources and achieving upgrade of rural tourism, Ningbo takes the lead in implementing multilevel rural tourism. Recently, Dalan township in Yuyao county, Huchen village in Ninghai county, Dayan township in Fenghua county, Beishan area in Jiangbei district and Maoyang village in Xiangshan county have become the first batch in Ningbo to be listed in the demonstration areas of multilevel rural tourism.

According to the Accreditation and Regulations of Multilevel Rural Tourism Demonstration Areas introduced in Ningbo, a demonstration area of multilevel rural tourism is defined as a destination of rural tours that can well meet the all-round needs of tourists. The demonstration areas, a cluster of varied tourism industries based on core centers, are required to be equipped with sound infrastructure, standard management, premium services and distinctive tourism products. Besides, they should achieve coordination with the environment and society.

In recent years, rural tourism in Ningbo has gained a powerful momentum. The annual activity of tourism promotion Beautiful Village stimulated the fast development of rural tourism in 2015. The year 2015 boasted a tremendous number of total tourists served which stood at over 38.6 million, an increase of 23.9% year on year and the total revenue of 4.3 billion, an increase of 22.4% year on year. During the first quarter of 2016, the tourists to rural areas served registered 8.8 million, up 21.04% over the same period.

At the critical moment in the upgrade of rural tourism, Ningbo became the pioneer in carrying out multilevel rural tourism which is featured by ingenuity and innovation. Zhou Mingli, deputy director of the Municipal Bureau of Tourism, remarked that the construction of demonstration areas would advance tourism services and regional reception capacity, create high-quality tourism that can well represent beauty in Ningbo , serve as the model for other regions as well as enhance the overall standard of rural tourism in Ningbo.

It is reported that demonstration areas have to undergo strict and dynamic management. Reviews on the demonstration areas will be conducted annually, during which those meet the standard survive while those not are revoked of their certificates.
