Ushering in 2017 with the Biggest Countdown Concert in Town, presented by Astro

Malaysians are invited to usher in 2017 with the biggest countdown concert in town by Astro, featuring the hottest K-pop, Taiwanese and local superstars at the Central Park, Desa ParkCity, on 31 December 2016, from 8pm till midnight. Admission is free.

The concert will also set the stage for the grand finals of Astro Star Quest (ASQ) 2016, where the 20th champion will be crowned in the presence of all the past 19 winners! Korean-American rock band, the Royal Pirates; Mandopop singer-songwriter, Bii; one of the most noteworthy ASQ alumni, Nicholas Teo and Canto-pop hitmaker, Eric Kwok, will be on the judging panel for this year's ASQ grand finals, which is slated to run on 31 December 2016, from 8pm to 10.30pm.

The excitement does not stop till midnight as the Royal Pirates, Bii and Nicholas Teo will also be entertaining the revellers.

The countdown concert is a must-attend event for entertainment lovers, as the five finalists of ASQ 2016; Eugene Wen Keng Soon (26, Selangor), Steve Eer Xiao Hui (21, Johor), William Tan Kian Hong (24, Kelantan), Wengdyy Ooi Wen Lih (24, Kedah) and Brian Chew Yi Bin (19, Penang) will each be giving a 20-minute action-packed performance, singing their hearts out to wow the judges and fans; and to win the ASQ 2016.

ASQ fans will be treated with a thrilling and memorable reunion of all 19 champions from 1997 to 2015. Many of them have since then rose to fame and are still active in showbiz today, namely Christopher Lay (1998), Winnie Ho (2000), Eric Lim (2001), Nicholas Teo (2002), Peace Teo (2010), Geraldine Gan (2011), Nicole Lai (2012) and Uriah See (2014), while others are pursuing different passion now.

For one night only, all ASQ champions will share stage to take the audience down the memory lane by performing their classic hits, as well as debuting a string of new songs. Also stay tuned for the appearance of special performers during the countdown concert. The concert will reach its crescendo with display of fireworks at midnight.

The concert will also be broadcast LIVE on Astro Wah Lai Toi (CH 311 / HD CH 310), Astro Fiesta (CH 996 / HD CH 998) and MY FM from 8pm, on 31 December 2016. In conjunction with Astro's 20th anniversary, Astro customers have free access to Astro Fiesta until end of the year.
