RTP uses Viz Multiplay for video wall production

The Portuguese broadcaster uses Viz Multiplay to control video wall content in multiple studios.

RTPs multiple studios required a flexible control system to manage all of the content to be displayed on their video walls.

RTP has decided to go with Viz Multiplay - Vizrts video wall control system - for the Lisbon studios of the new channel RTP3, supporting three output channels for the set's three LED video walls. The systems features a series of graphics and clips, and live video inputs rendered by a single Viz Engine real-time compositing system. Two additional LCD touchscreens are employed to illustrate the news content. The wall is a combination of LED screens with a final size of 6614 x 1080 pixels - all fed and controlled by a single Multiplay.

In the city of Oporto, another studio is using a virtual set fed by Viz Engine and Viz Multiplay inputs. RTP is also using one Viz Engine for each of their virtual video walls. The solution gives producers a simple way to control studio screen content from a single interface and makes easy to use the same shows and content in the 2 cities and different studios: Lisbon and Oporto.

To easily control content played on its video wall, shows like the new Portuguese Channel RTP3 (24/7 news) and other news channels have been using Viz Multiplay since early September 2015. The daily production workflow makes it easy for producers to create content for each show without the assistance of a designer. Using Media Service - a tool that is part of the Viz One media asset management family - the users drop any media files they need into a watch folder on the Viz Engine. The files are then immediately available to be placed in the video wall and controlled by the Viz Multiplay interface.

"RTP's innovative productions required a sophisticated video wall system to provide and control content for very high resolution video walls," said Pablo Herrero Delavenay, Regional Manager of Vizrt Spain. "The success of the Viz Multiplay installation at RTP has led to a similar installation for RTP1 main news studio, with two Viz Engines driving multiple hi-resolution video walls.
