First ever Irish-language Radio App available to download now To mark Seachtain Na Gaeilge, RT and the IBI are proud to announce a new Irish-language radio app (An Seinnteoir Raidi ) which brings together, for the first time, every radio station on the island broadcasting as Gaeilge RT Raidi na Gaeltachta, Raidi na Life, Raidi R -R and Raidi F ilte, along with 43 other Irish radio stations in the one place. Developed by RT with the support of the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, the app is free to download from the App Store and Play Store now.

The app, which is available now for free from the iTunes App Store (iOS) and the Google Play Store (Android), was officially launched by R n n Mac Con Iomaire, RT Group Head of Irish Language. R n n was joined by Bl thnaid N Chofaigh (Raidio na Gaeltachta), Chris Greene (RT 2fm), Barbara Nic Dhonnacha (Classic Hits 4FM), Bl thnaid Treacy (RT 2fm), Sean Rocks (RT Radio 1), and Eoghan McDermott (RT 2fm).

R n n Mac Con Iomaire, RT Group Head of Irish Language, says: It's fantastic that RT has taken the lead in launching an app that brings all of the island of Ireland's Irish language radio services together in one place, and it's a real example of the value of partnership, with valuable support from the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, and the IBI. Clustering together all of the available Irish-language radio services will add to the accessibility and choice of radio services as Gaeilge, in a way that hasn t been possible for the listener until now.

Lisa Ni Choisdealbha, Executive Director of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI) said: The launch of the Irish Radioplayer was a game changer in Irish radio and there's no doubt but that An Seinnteoir Raidi will follow suit. With all Irish language radio stations and Irish language programmes together in one accessible place, it is easier for listeners to tune in, which in turn will make the consumption of radio as Gaeilge much easier for our audiences. An Seinnteoir Raidi shows what can be achieved when broadcasters put aside their competitive differences and focus on what is in the best interests of the Irish radio audiences.
