Bel TV, the national TV and radio broadcasting company of the Republic of Belarus, has chosen solutions from Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, to take its live news and video production capabilities to the next level. The company purchased GV STRATUS for video production and content management, EDIUS for editing, K2 servers for storage, and Densit infrastructure components for signal processing. The equipment was supplied, installed, and commissioned by Offtech, a local systems integrator.
We chose to do business with Grass Valley because we know we will benefit from the company's innovative solutions which help us save money and create powerful media content, says Aliaksandr Hryblo, chief technology officer, Bel TV. Our goal is to broadcast the most urgent and interesting news in accordance with international requirements of quality and speed. We appreciate Grass Valley's customer-oriented approach and look forward to expanding our mutual cooperation with its talented technical team as well as our system integrator Offtech.
This is Bel TV's first major project with Grass Valley and Offtech. After evaluating all of the options on the market and establishing a timeline for completing the project, Bel TV chose Grass Valley and has been very pleased with the performance of the solutions as well as the support provided by Grass Valley and the integrator. The installation spanned both the editing complex and the studio at Bel TV.
According to Viktor Ushatkin, chief technology officer, Offtech, The Grass Valley equipment in the new editing complex of Bel TV will allow the company to exceed its expectations in efficiency and dynamic live production capabilities. Grass Valley has a powerful line of broadcast solutions full of competitive advantages. The opportunity to form a positive, long-term partnership with Grass Valley was one of the main drivers to make this project a reality.
GV STRATUS is a modular video production and content management toolset, based on K2 media servers and storage, which embraces content ingest, editing, distribution, and archive and retrieval management. Customers benefit from the efficiency of GV STRATUS through workflow automation, ease of use, and scalability. GV STRATUS stands out from the competition by bringing the full resources of the newsroom to the field so producers can get stories to air faster. With an extremely efficient proxy workflow, users can mix and move low-resolution and hi-resolution assets - including so-called wild files from citizen journalists - across multiple sites, and perform full editing in the field with EDIUS.
EDIUS is Grass Valley's editing software, designed for production and broadcast news. Version 8 features multiple new capabilities, including refreshed GUI, Canon XF-AVC support, a new workflow clip management tool, accelerated 4K H.264 playback and an aggressive development program to introduce many new creative tools over the coming months. EDIUS offers best-in-class camera support and includes a new GV browser tool to manage video and still image content on your PC, prior to importing into EDIUS for editing.
Grass Valley's K2 platform is the most extensive and flexible line of media servers, storage and dedicated record/play devices in the industry. The K2 platform offers a unified infrastructure to acquire, manage, package and deliver content across a diverse range of broadcast media requirements and applications, including 4K and IP.
The 3 RU Densit 3 Frame can simultaneously process 3G, HD, SD and analog video, as well as AES and analog audio and can be fitted with 3 RU and 2 RU Densit modules (using card extenders). Its front-opening frame features dual hot-swappable power supplies (PSUs) and fans. All modules, redundant PSUs and fans are monitored to deliver status via GPI or an Ethernet port. Front panel multicolor LEDs provide status reporting, while a controller card allows card adjustments from the front panel.
Outstanding quality, a variety of features and capabilities, affordable investment, quick delivery-these were all requirements Bel TV outlined at the beginning of the project, notes JanPieter van Welsem, VP sales, EMEA, Grass Valley. The combination of our system solutions, the knowledgeable Offtech team, and the clear specifications of Bel TV helped us to deliver a great solution without extra expenses for the customer. Bel TV will now have the ability to quickly build and modify news in its production schedule. And we are proud that we have had the chance to complete such a project in the Republic of Belarus.
