Popular actress, Phindile Gwala, who currently plays the role of Fikile Bhengu, on e.tv's third-most-watched soapie, Imbewu: The Seed has allegedly been fired.

Inside sources have revealed that producers of the show have terminated her contract because of her craft competence.

FIKILE'S INCEST' STORYLINE Fakaza has reported that producers felt that her talent is not what the showrunners expected out of her.

Fikile was currently reunited with her estranged mother, Nompilo (Zandi Nhlapo), who revealed that she's related to her fiance, Nkululeko Bhengu (Nkanyiso Mchunu).

The ancestors are angered by their union and her character is currently sick as a result.

The source added that the new producers were not impressed with her acting skills and have decided to let her character go.

This is surprising news to fans of the actress and viewers of the show as Gwala is a seasoned actress.

Duma Ndlovu who created Imbewu: The Seed and Muvhango worked with Gwala on Muvhango before she exited the show in July 2017 to focus on her brand.

It is still unclear at this stage whether her character will be killed as she is sick or whether she will leave the show.

Phindile's on-screen character was being struck off because of her craft competence.

The producers have it that her talent is not what the showrunners expected out of her.

However, it was revealed that the new producers were not very impressed, so they did not want to keep her, said the source.

FUNDISWA ZWANE GETS FIRED BY IMBEWU' Phindile Gwala is the second seasoned actress from the e.tv soapie to get fired.

Current Skeem Saam actress, Fundiswa Zwane, who plays the role of Nandi, on the soapie also got fired by Imbewu: The Seed in 2020.

Zwane, who played the role of KaMadonsela, was fired after her management team demanded that she gets a raise.

The show sent a statement to Drum Magazine last year which read:

Fundi's last appearance in the current storyline will be on 29 July 2020.

Since the show's inception in 2018, Fundi has been a tremendous pleasure to watch.

She brilliantly epitomised the role of Ka-Madonsela, a wife whose roots are deeply set in her culture, the statement read.

The actress told the publication that she had a great journey on the show and was excited to see the beautiful stories that will unfold on the show.

The role of KaMadonsela is currently played by former Generations: The Legacy actress, Brenda Mhlongo.
