New tech-heavy company HQ features drone testing...

The new headquarters for DJI, manufacturer of some of the worlds most popular drones, currently being constructed southwest of Shenzhen in China, feature an array of technological features. The new building is aiming to defy the traditional idea of office spaces to form a creative community in the sky. The design, by achitects Foster + Partners, include a skybridge between two towers to be used for drone testing.

Spread across twin towers, the headquarters are arranged such that the sensitive research and development spaces are in the east tower, while the office and public functions are in the west tower.

The office and research spaces in the two towers above are arranged in floating volumes cantilevered from central cores by large megatrusses and circular profiled steel hangers. The innovative suspension structure reduces the need for columns, thus creating uninterrupted office and research spaces. It also allows for quadruple-height drone flight testing labs that are unique to DJI, while giving the towers their distinctive identity, against the backdrop of the city's skyline.

Located on the top of the floating volumes, the skygardens provide private gardens for the DJI staff to enjoy. The towers are linked by a feature sky bridge, which, along with the skygardens will become another platform for showcasing the latest drone technology.

The ground floor features a public exhibition space, alongside a new theatre for new product launches and a variety of staff facilities from gymnasiums to robot fighting rings.
