Continuing on VR Pa, NFL Teams with VOKE To Produce VR Game Highlights at Four Games

The NFL continues to lay out its virtual-reality roadmap, partnering with VR startup VOKE, which was acquired by Intel last month, to create a what the company calls personalized, fully immersive virtual-reality highlights experience using its TrueVR technology. During the final weeks of the 2016 regular season, VOKE and NFL Films will produce highlights in virtual reality from four NFL games.

Fans will be able to experience in-game and postgame highlights from the Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars game on Dec. 4, f the New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Dec. 11, the Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans on Dec. 18, and the Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles on Jan. 1.

The VOKE deal is the NFL's third virtual-reality-partnership announcement in less than a month, following agreements with NextVR to produce postgame VR highlights for three games and with Google to produce a nine-part VR series that goes behind the scenes on game day.

Through multiple camera angles as well as synchronized DVR, VOKE's TrueVR platform allows viewers to decide what they want to watch and when they want to watch it. In addition, VOKE's cameras can be customized for different environments, and its stereoscopic capture system provides what the company describes as the most natural view of the action, allowing fans to see realistic proportions and depth wherever they look.

VOKE will work alongside the award-winning team from NFL Films to produce the in-game and postgame highlights, which will be hosted by NFL Network reporter Courtney Fallon and former NFL wide receiver David Nelson from each game site. Fans will be able to access the NFL VR experience for free in the NFL channel within the VOKE app.
