Story Highlights
The COVID-19 pandemic will prevent the SVG community from getting together but SVG will be doing its best to replicate as much of the in-person experience as possible. We won't have avatars and virtual exhibit halls, but we will have plenty of ways for you to engage with fellow attendees and connect in new and exciting ways. With this year's SVG Summit:CONNECT (Dec. 14-17), our goal is to bring the community together and allow them to learn and connect with one another during these challenging times.
First, all of the sessions will be live so you can have a chance to ask questions and comment on the session via chat. Don't miss in-depth CONVERSATIONS that go inside the relaunch of the 2020 MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, PGA/majors, and auto racing seasons in the midst of the pandemic, as well TOWN HALL PANELS focused on Networks, Leagues, and Remote Production Services.
Secondly, each day will conclude with two tracks of ROUNDTABLE CONVERSATIONS Zoom meeting style so that you can see everyone else who is in the room, text chat with specific individuals, and of course raise your hand and become part of the conversation. But the most exciting development is the SVG CONNECT program itself, a new way for all registered attendees to reach out and privately message one another. Once it is active later this month, you will be able to access a searchable list of all registrants, so finding a friend or technology partner will be super-easy. Best of all, no personal information is shared so there is no fear of any information being compromised.
Finally, there is MEET FOR THE FUND, a fundraiser whereby SVG will donate $100 to the Sports Broadcasting Fund on your behalf for agreeing to hold three meetings with Event Sponsors who ordinarily exhibited at our real-world Summit. The show's MEET FOR THE FUND directory lists all participating sponsors; and you simply click the box next to their name to set up a meeting at a mutually convenient time before, during or after the show. Our hope is to have enough meetings set up to raise $25,000 (that will require 250 end users to step up so be sure to MEET FOR THE FUND as soon as you can)!
Helping you figure out which of the participating sponsors you would like to meet with will be our SVG TECH TOURS. Each tour will be introduced by an SVG board member and will feature five minute technology overviews from sponsors. Topics include acquisition; audio; content management; infrastructure; OTT/streaming/social media; production services; production tools; and transmission services. All of those videos will be available on demand from Dec. 14-17 within the event platform.
Sports production professionals and broadcast technology providers across our nation and around the globe face an unprecedented challenge when it comes to building new relationships and maintaining old ones. Our hope is that SVG Summit:CONNECT will be a small step towards normalcy.
