BASE Media Cloud, one of the UK's leading specialist providers of cloud-based managed services for the media industry, has announced the launch of a new Self-Service Storage & Distribution' solution for Brands, Rights Holders and Broadcast Distribution companies.
The new 100% cloud-based solution has been designed to empower content owners to securely receive, store and distribute unlimited amounts of file-based masters via easy-to-use self-service web portals.
The Pay as you Go' service is built around the Company's UK-based cloud storage platform, hosted with Vodafone and incorporates easy-to-use, client branded web portals by Signiant and Aspera, tailored to clients' specific workflow needs and budgetary requirements.
In addition to fast, high capacity storage and file delivery, customers can also choose to archive their valuable content to the Company's new BIG CHILL cloud storage tier, for long-term, secure retention and disaster recovery at a lower cost per terabyte. Once assets have been delivered and reach the end of a distribution cycle, they can be internally migrated to secure hibernated' cloud storage, in the same ISO27001 accredited Vodafone UK data centre facility. When archived content is required for future retrieval or re-delivery, it can be spun up' in under 30-seconds and delivered at high speed anywhere in the world with no additional charges.
The Company recently deployed its first Aspera Files hybrid cloud storage and distribution platform for the 2016 Formula E electric vehicle racing series, produced by Aurora Media Worldwide. The annual contract sees BASE Media Cloud enabling the secure storage and transfer of full HD highlights programs, VT inserts, VoD clips and promotional films between rights holders, production teams, media partners and broadcasters around the world.
When compared with more traditional services available, the Company estimates its customers can save a minimum of 20% per year in storage and distribution costs by switching to the BASE Media Cloud platform.
By working from our fully managed cloud platform, our customers can either pay per file', per production', or on monthly and annual fixed bundled contracts. They can simply scale capacity as they need it. This model is crucial when attributing storage and delivery costs against international distribution, licensing and content sales budgets, said Ben Foakes, Founder and Managing Director of BASE Media Cloud.
As well as experiencing significant cost savings, customers will also benefit from reducing the time and logistical steps previously required to distribute their content, by simply logging in to easy-to-use web portals to manage and distribute files themselves, in a matter of moments.
With all BASE Media Cloud infrastructure and software services being hosted in the cloud, the Company's clients don't need to purchase, manage or maintain any of their own specialist equipment. All services can be simply operated over standard business and domestic broadband lines, as well as via high bandwidth leased line connections, where available. Customers without high-speed connectivity can choose to work with their preferred facilities partners for faster upload, direct to their cloud accounts.
For companies requiring physical ingest or migration of legacy format tape and digital content libraries, the BASE Media Cloud team also offers a variety of hands-on data ingest and data migration services to help directly digitize and copy media to customers' cloud storage accounts.
The beauty of this new approach is that our customers can now deliver, monitor and manage their own content from any desktop computer, at their office, or even working remotely, said Foakes. It's as intuitive as WeTransfer, but we can take care of multiple Terabytes of data per day, from anywhere in the world.
