At Prolight Sound 2016 (Hall 4.1, Booth C11), DPA Microphones will be adding to its hugely popular d:facto Handheld Microphone range by launching an extremely linear version of this award winning product, the d:facto Vocal Microphone.
Already the vocal microphone of choice for artists such as Sting, Stevie Wonder, Kate Bush and Ellie Goulding, the new version has an extremely linear frequency response compared to the original d:facto Vocal Microphone, which has a 3 dB soft boost at 12 kHz. The new d:facto Linear Vocal Microphone is for sound engineers who want the ability to design the complete sound pattern to create their own unique sound.
Featuring a new capsule with an isolation-optimized supercardioid polar pattern that is specifically designed to augment the human vocal range, the d:facto Linear Vocal Microphone combines the very best of cardioid and supercardioid directional characteristics, just as the original d:facto Vocal Mic. This ensures complete focus on the sound source with minimum bleed, thus delivering high separation, natural sound and SPL handling up to 160 dB.
The d:facto Linear Vocal Microphone is ideal for PA amplification and recording, says DPAs Vice President of Marketing, Anne Berggrein. We are happy to add another great capsule to the d:facto range that will give ambitious sound engineers even more possibilities to achieve the best sound. The d:facto is the wingman you rely on when performance really matters, which is why we see the d:facto mics in so many high-end environments.
DPAs d:facto range is entirely modular and this latest iteration is no exception. The capsule can be removed and replaced with any other d:facto capsule to suit different recording or performance requirements. Also, using DPAs flexible adapter system, the microphone can be transformed from a wired version with a handle to a handheld wireless microphone capable of seamless integration with all leading wireless solutions such as Sennheiser, Shure, Sony, Wisycom, Lectrosonics and Line6.
DPA will also be using the Prolight Sound platform to unveil the GM1600 Gooseneck - a new mount for its d:screet Omnidirectional Miniature Microphones. Available separately or as two different kits with a d:screet microphone, the GM1600 Gooseneck is compatible with DPAs entire and extensive range of instrument mounting clips, which are specifically designed to never blemish or scratch the instrument. By choosing the right clip for their particular instrument, musicians and sound engineers can decide on the correct placement to achieve the desired timbre.
When used with the d:screet 4061 Omnidirectional Lo-Sens microphone, this versatile 15.3 cm (6 in) long gooseneck provides stable and repeatable positioning for close miking instruments in studio and live environments. When used with the d:screet 4060 Omnidirectional Hi-Sens microphone, which is designed for softer sound levels or for picking up ambient sound, it is ideal as a plant mic in a concealed application for film sound recordists who want clean, detailed and natural sound, even when the microphone is not pointing directly at the sound source.
Alongside these new products, DPA will be showing established microphone models such as the d:vote Instrument Microphone and the full range of bodyworn microphones that are perfect for artists who want freedom of movement on stage. These include DPA s d:screet Miniature Microphones and the d:fine 66 and 88 Headset Microphones that combine the flexible mechanics of the d:fine ear mount with the capsules from the legendary d:fine 4066 omni and 4088 cardioid headsets.
There is no doubt that DPA s Prolight Sound 2016 booth will be the place to visit for anyone who wants to learn about the best placement of a microphone on their instrument in order to achieve the best sound. The booth will feature workshops with live performances by the American indie-folk band SHEL, who will assist DPA in demonstrating various microphones on a range of instruments and vocals. There will also be displays that highlight all the accessories and adapters available to each microphone range and listening stations.
Visitors can also bring along their own instruments to DPAs open workshops so that they can learn how best to mike them with DPA Microphones. Anyone who would like to pre-register for any DPA events can do so via this link: www.dpamicrophones.com/PLS2016
Finally, DPA will once again be running a daily competition for visitors to win a d:vote Instrument Microphone. Participants must register for each draw via iPads on the booth and must be on the booth at 18.30 when the draw takes place in order to claim their prize if their name comes up.
