WeLab, audio-visual equipment rental company, has organized this Thursday a day of presentation of the new Varicam LT of Panasonic. Attendees have been tested for the Varicam LT in different light conditions and in conjunction with other elements as a stabilizer. One of the aspects that most surprised has been excellent color reproduction in shades of skin and its wide contrast ratio.

During the day you have viewing scenes recorded with the camera in very different situations.

The VariCam LT features a compact and lightweight magnesium housing and offers the same quality specifications as the VariCam 35, larger and aimed at the film environment. The image sensor of Super 35 mm, identical to the imaging system that integrates the VariCam 35, offers a wide dynamic range, a vast gamut of colors and high sensitivity for capturing images 4K. The sensor has two native ISO settings, from 800 to 5000. The original 5000 ISO sensitivity allows recordings crisp in very low light conditions. Its size and design facilitates a wide range of styles of recording, such as an ergonomic and comfortable mode of use in shoulder, or with cardan and drones.

One of the novelties of the VariCam LT is the EF mount, which offers numerous options for the goal. The EF mount can be withdrawn by the user and replaced by a mount (optional) PL. This feature can provide even greater versatility in selecting targets when recording with the VariCam LT. The workflow of the VariCam LT is very similar to the VariCam 35. Both models integrate a function of dual recording that allows the user to record a primary or main codec, and a smaller proxy file. In addition, two cameras incorporate a color correction function internal and support for the AVC-Intra 4K and Apple ProRes codecs.

Wide latitude

The camera offers a dynamic range of 14 + stops. This wide dynamic range ensures an accurate reproduction of the images as a whole, from dark areas clear. Even in brightly lit scenes, especially important in film production, the VariCam LT ensures pictures with low noise without affecting the quality. "Differentiated" is capable of creating the 14 + stops of dynamic range offered by the VariCam LT image sensor, which greatly improves the ability of different appearance.

The VariCam LT incorporates two original ISO settings: 800 and 5000. This feature allows the VariCam LT achieved a very high sensitivity and maintain a low level of noise when used with ISO 5000. The level of noise at ISO 5000 is virtually identical to that observed at ISO 800. This is achieved through the incorporation of two specific analog circuits in each pixel of the image sensor of the VariCam LT for each original ISO before processing gain.

Note that the supplied control panel integrates a type 3.5 LCD screen. This panel can be used to select options menu or as live images or preview monitor. The buttons and dials are arranged around the screen for fast and accurate use. Commonly used controls have direct access settings. The removable structure allows you to use the camera from a distance of up to 90 cm.
