Seville in Ultra high definition... More than fifty speakers from 20 countries participating from today and until tomorrow Friday in Seville in the 4 K Summit, an international Summit on 4K technology. Sevilla is two days (5-6 November) the world capital of technology and content in 4 k. the 4 K Summit, of which Audiovisual Panorama is a media partner, boasts an extensive programme of
round tables, conferences, technology and shows the best productions in 4K of the international market... At the same time in an open session independent, creative producers, screenwriters and entrepreneurs can attend to present their projects are some of the highlights of this International Congress that combines content and technology 4K UHD.
Joaqu n Dur n, director of the Radio Television of Andalusia (RTVA), has opened this forum welcoming professionals, coming from 20 countries. Duran highlighted the commitment of RTVA by technological innovation.
Ricardo Medina, CEO of Medina Medina, recently presented to the Director of TVE Juan Carlos Gonz lez "Spanish Television is the beginning, present and future of the UHDTV in Spain".
According to Gonzalez, the 4K is "a reality that is so tangible that the industry would already be prepared to implement a workflow at 4K, even in news".
Gonzalez has made a review of some of the experiences that TVE has carried out in 4K collecting images of Barcelona, the Prado Museum and the Rastro de Madrid. One of the last productions that the Corporation has carried out was shot in la Granja de San Idelfonso and UHTV with wide dynamic range (HDR) has been used for the first time. This piece reflects the perspectives of future in HDR, 100 p and Colorimetry with ITU-R BT 2020 color space.
"Soup of the Ultra high definition formats began to be finally clarified. In TVE, in recent years us we dump on TVE in broadcasts by satellite and HD and since a few months ago also encrypt with HbbTV working with bandwidths between 10 to 25 Mbps,"it concluded.
Xavier Bonet, lecturer at ESCAC, has done in his exhibition an overview of the main basic concepts such as resolution, size of screen and its relationship with the distance to the viewer or the dynamic range.
Bonet has underlined that "for the first time, the UHDTV means abandoning first entanglement." Working in a progressive format, it disappears the motion blur but at the same time can be a new device called motion judder with contrails generated with objects or people moving too quickly on the screen."
The issue with high frame rate, in his view "the HFR not always brings benefits. In the future we can work up to 120 fps, but this will have to streamline it for not sacrificing bandwidth."
Bonet has highlighted that the HDR is not a technology to apply only to the UHDTV, but makes sense applied to these environments because the relationship of the dynamic range and resolution are in tune. To work in HDR it would be necessary to use between 10 and 12-bit because if we use 8 bit there would be a scaling or bandwidth. 10-12-bit-a lower quantification error occurs, even if it involves an increase in bandwidth, said.
On the roadmap that will follow the UHDTV, we are now on the UHD-1 with a resolution of 3840 2160 can operate in up to 60 p, but does not support large gamut and HDR. On the other hand, in the imminent future, in phase 2, "we will enjoy the explosion of the advantages of the UHDTV with up to 120 fps and 10-12 bits and a maximum rate of 48 gbits/s bit" has secured Bonet.
Content and platforms
In the first round table of this Summit in Seville, Victoria Cabrera in front of Clustera has moderated a debate on production and distribution of content which was attended by Alejandro Vega, director of RTVE.es; Samuel Mart n Mateos, responsible for contents of culture and society in TVE; Luis Sah n, CEO SES Astra in Spain; Rafael Braza, director of analytics and Movistar products; Carlos Rosado, President of Andalusia and Spain Film Commission; and Yolanda Vicente, Content Expert at Samsung.
Mart n Mateos has highlighted that in order to ensure the validity in time and the possibility of exporting and importing audiovisual content will be necessary to adapt already to Ultra high definition.
Fathom has highlighted that the new concept of television must go beyond content to deliver the best user experience. Also anticipated that beyond the 14 million households that have access to optical fiber, short-term 97% of population coverage, be reached guaranteeing bandwidth more than enough for the distribution of content UHDTV. It has also broadcast the idea that Telef nica is now much more than a telco since its strategy through position as a video company in world of content.
Rosado said that "today we have a group of producers that is in the future by devising the key technology in the production and another group which is in decline because they are not positioned. Without a doubt, technology determines the creative and production process". It has also highlighted that the UHDTV will implement a new language and different use of the technology, so you will need a professional recycling process.
Regarding consumer electronics, Yolanda Vicente has unveiled that 10% of TVs being sold today already are Ultra High Definition with an average of 46 inches. In 2018, this percentage will rise to 38% of TVs sold in the world.
Distributing content at UHD
In a later debate, C sar D az, 7amedia, it has moderated a Panel on the distribution of contents 4 K which has counted with the intervention of Joseph tables, Tedial director; Eva Zalve, consultant of Zonevisual and Rodolfo Dom nguez, commercial director at TVE.
Dominguez believes that "4K production currently is low so it is an opportunity for the producers, but I have no doubt that the entire industry will go to the Ultra high definition. I dont know if this will be in 5th
