From July 18th to November 12th, 2020, from summer to winter, totally 117days, SMT UHD 4K OB Van S2 and S4, and HD OB Van B3 broadcasting teams completed the most special live broadcasting of the China Football Association Super League (CSL).

A team of more than 20 people, 56 games, 9 4K productions, 16 pre-match investigation, 6 press conference live broadcasts, virtual audiences, VR live broadcasting, 8K test live broadcasts, AI experimental cameras, benchmark white coloring test. All of these data came from a strictly implemented anti-epidemic measure, an overall production that guarantees quality and quantity, and a technological innovation that is brave to undertake.

Since 2016, SMT has become a PQC partner of the CSL. At the beginning of 2018, technology center has been introduced into the production of the CSL. Through the on-site optical fiber, the change from baseband transmission to IP transmission is gradually realized; the contents of PGM, stand-alone camera, data signal, call signal are gradually increased, and the multi-version production of HD and 4K and all-media transmission of short videos and live events have been fulfilled.

In the first half of the 2020 CSL, virtual audiences and virtual sounds allow fans to feel the long-lost atmosphere of football stadium in front of TV; in the second half of the season, the use of multi-position cameras enhanced story of the game and presented through real-time data.

Technological Innovation, Continue to Explore and Embrace the Future

In the CSL 2020, the SMT team not only completed the broadcasting task brilliantly, but also completed a series of impressive new technology research and development.

Complete the verification of OBS-based HD and UHD simultaneous broadcasting systems, and summarize the working booklet for dual-version feed production.

Complete the single-point test of the baseline white coloring method, record the relevant data of each point of the system, realize the unified picture adjustment of HD SDR and 4K HDR, and ensure the quality and consistency of coloring in multiple versions.

Together with China Sports Media (CSM), completed the 8K feed production and live broadcasting of the first large-scale sports event, meanwhile laying a solid foundation for the brand new immersion + information production model in the future;
