
The Autumn Schedule has begun on RT Raidi na Gaeltachta, with a feast of music, entertainment, news and current affairs programmes as well as an interesting selection of drama and much more to be heard every day.
J Johnny Joe, a major new horror drama series, about musician Johnny D ill will begin on Sunday 14th September at 7.30pm. This work combines excellent live music with humour and sadness in a moving, entertaining and tense story, featuring the best of professional actors including: Darach Dubh in, Sorcha N Ch ide, Macdara F tharta, Ella Nic Dhomhnaill, M ire Eil s N Fhlatharta & Br d N Neachtain and many others. Written by acclaimed playwright, Darach Mac Con Iomaire, this is a production by Sti ideo Cuan, in association with RT Raidi na Gaeltachta and Coimisi n na Me n, funded by the TV licence fee.
A new series of the programme Cuan an Cheoil by Liam Maonla will be heard every Thursday at 7pm from the 11th September. Liam talks to well-known musicians about their craft and their lives, and among the guests we will hear will be: M ire and t in N Churraoin, Doireann N Glac in and Libby McCrohan, Cathal Curr in and Megan Nic Fhionnghaile, Pauline Scanlon, John Spillane and many more. Videos of the programmes will also be featured on Youtube each week. This series is a Sti ideo Cuan production funded by the Media Commission under the Sound & Vision scheme.
M ire Treasa N Dhubhghaill will be back with a new series of P Sc al , which will be heard every Friday at 3pm from the 12th September. In this entertaining series, M ire Treasa will kick off the weekend with live music in the studio, interesting interviews, craic and conversation with the young Irish community, around the country and around the world. Whatever story is to be discussed, it will be on Whatever Story It is!
To kick off Culture Night on the 19th of September, P Sc al will be broadcasting live from An Taibhdhearc, in the heart of Galway city from 3-5pm. The programme will feature a taste of the night's sloppiness, with musicians, singers, actors, artists and much more.
A new series of An C inne D na will be broadcast every Thursday at 2.05pm from 11th September. In this series, Tristan Rosenstock will take a look at the arts, including drama, literature, film and music. There will also be interviews with the country's leading artists, reviews and much more.
There will also be a musical feast on the airwaves throughout the week. Gr inne N Dhomhnaill will be back with Nead na Fuiseoige every morning from 7am, and Eibhl n de Bhail s will have a break from the big stories of the day on Cwmni Ceoil every morning from Monday to Friday at 10.15am.
D nal Mac Ruairi's extensive selection of music on Coisir Cheoil will provide listeners with a refreshing lunch between 2.30-5pm from Monday to Thursday, while the flour of traditional musicians will be heard on Ceol Binn na Beanna by Neansa N Choisdealbha every Monday to Wednesday from 7-9pm. Seoda Foinn by renowned singer and Corn U Riada winner, Caitl n N Chual in, will be back every Thursday at 8.30pm, with the best of sean-n s music from contemporary singers and the archive. Every Friday, from 7-9pm, renowned musician and composer Peadar Riada will be in the chair with Invitation To Music.
An Taobh Tuathail, which is celebrating 26 years on the air, will be back every Monday from 11pm - 1am and every Tuesday to Friday from 10pm to midnight. Cian will discover the freshest and most exciting sounds on the surface of the globe - from brand new electronic records, psychedelic sounds, to new Irish and world music.
If your heart is in folk music, An B thar go Nashville by J N Ch ide will take place every Monday from 9-11pm and Tequilla T re by Josie Cual in every Sunday from 9-11pm.
Gormfhlaith N Thuairisg will be exploring Gaeltacht, national and international stories on Adhmhaidin every morning from Monday to Friday from 8am, while Nuacht a hAon will be at 1pm with Fionnuala N Neachtain, M ir n N Ghadhra and Colm Mac Giolla Easpaig in the chair. Fachtna Drisceoil will be discussing big news stories as he returns to T s ite, at 5pm on weekdays. On Saturday at 11am, major news and political stories will be explored on An tSeachtain with M ir n N Ghadhra. Current affairs events taking centre stage for RTE Raidi na Gaeltachta staff this Autumn include the Budget and the Presidential Election.
RT Raidi na Gaeltachta's sports team will be on the road with commentary, analysis and reporting on sports in the west, north, south and east throughout the year. The final competitions in the Gaeltacht counties will be broadcast live, the decisive rounds of the Club Championship and the inter-county games in the new year when the National League kicks off again. There will be plenty of discussion on the big sports stories here at home and further afield on Sp rt an tSathairn, Sp rt an Tr thn na and Sp rt an Lae every weekend.
A new series of music, a co-production between Raidi na Gaeltachta and BBC Radio nan G idheal, presented by D nal Mac Ruair and Joy Dunlop, will be launched this winter, linking the music and songs of Ireland and Scotland. In November, Raidi na Gaeltachta will take centre stage with music, craic and special broadcasts, live from Oireachtas na Samhna 2025 in Belfast. More about these and many more programmes will be announced in due course.
