Alejandro Echevarr a, President of Mediaset Spain, awarded the Ramon Rubial Nelson Mandela, la Presidenta de Chile Michelle Bachelet, I aki Gabilondo, Felipe Gonz lez o el Banco de Alimentos, son algunas de las entidades y personalidades premiadas en anteriores ediciones. El presidente de Mediaset Espa a, Alejandro Echevarr a, ha sido galardonado con el Premio Ram n Rubial a Toda una Trayectoria Empresarial, un reconocimiento con el que esta instituci n quiere homenajear a aquellas personalidades que han destacado en la b squeda de mayores cotas de libertad, democracia, solidaridad y tolerancia y nos hacen una sociedad m s justa, democr tica y libre .
Entre las diferentes personalidades que han resultado galardonadas en anteriores ediciones con los premios Ram n Rubial se encuentran el ex presidente de Sud frica Nelson Mandela, la presidenta de Chile Michelle Bachelet, el periodista I aki Gabilondo, el expresidente del Gobierno Felipe Gonz lez o el Banco de Alimentos, entre otras personalidades y ONG's.
Los Premios Ram n Rubial, que otorga la Fundaci n Ram n Rubial, creada en su memoria por la hija del que fuera presidente del PSOE hasta su muerte en 1999, pretenden destacar anualmente a aqu llas personas o entidades que, a juicio del Patronato de la Fundaci n, m s se hayan distinguido a lo largo del a o en la b squeda de los valores que Ram n Rubial defendi con empe o a lo largo de toda su vida, libertad, democracia, solidaridad y tolerancia, porque consideraba que eran los que mejor pod an garantizar el progreso del conjunto de la ciudadan a.
El premio consiste en una obra in dita del artista basauritarra Jon Alberdi que la ha denominado remolcador en la r a , con la que ha querido representar el esfuerzo realizado por Ram n Rubial para conseguir la unidad de los vascos, confeccionada ntegramente en hierro forjado, soportado en una base hueca independiente.
Toda una vida dedicada a la comunicaci n Alejandro Echevarr a Busquets naci en Bilbao en 1942. Es licenciado en Ciencias Empresariales por la Escuela Superior de T cnicos de Empresa de San Sebasti n y especializado en Empresariales por la Higher School. Perteneciente a la familia Echevarr a, vinculada a los medios de comunicaci n del Pa s Vasco, desempe puestos de direcci n en las empresas del Grupo Correo siendo precursor de la expansi n empresarial y territorial e impulsor de una profunda reestructuraci n tecnol gica de los medios, que sent las bases para la formaci n de un gran grupo multimedia.
El 15 de mayo de 1996, fue nombrado presidente de Telecinco, actualmente Mediaset Espa a. Esta etapa profesional coincide en el tiempo con el desarrollo m s importante en la historia de la cadena: fue pionera en implantar la redacci n digital de Informativos Telecinco; tuvo sentido de la oportunidad y decisi n al afrontar el cambio y la evoluci n de los contenidos en consonancia con las preferencias del p blico; acert al gestionarlo comercialmente a trav s de su filial Publiespa a y al haber realizado la salida a Bolsa con mayor xito de una empresa del sector. Tras su fusi n con Cuatro en 2010, Echevarr a fue nombrado presidente de Mediaset Espa a, insignia que aglutina a todas las empresas del grupo.
Ha sido presidente de la Uni n de Televisiones Comerciales Asociadas (UTECA) desde los a os 2006 a 2012, tiempo en el que negoci con el Gobierno una profunda reforma audiovisual que supon a, entre otras cosas, la eliminaci n de la publicidad en las televisiones p blicas que ha sido clave para el sector, as como la de las concentraciones que han permitido la fusi n entre operadores.
Es adem s presidente de la Comisi n de Medios de Comunicaci n de FAD (Fundaci n de Ayuda Contra la Drogadicci n), as como vicepresidente de la Deusto Business School, miembro del jurado de los Premios Pr ncipe de Asturias de Comunicaci n y Humanidades y patrono de las Fundaciones Plan Espa a, Novia Salcedo y De Ayuda contra la Drogadicci n. Es tambi n, vicepresidente del CONR (Foro para la Contrataci n P blica Socialmente Responsable).
Con anterioridad, fue consejero de la Oficina de la Justificaci n de la Difusi n (O.J.D.), presidente de SAPISA (Servicios Auxiliares de Prensa Independiente), de la Agencia Colpisa y de la Asociaci n de Editores de Diarios de Espa a (A.E.D.E.). Fue tambi n presidente de Editores Asociados para la Televisi n Independiente S.A. (TEVISA) y miembro del Consejo de Administraci n de Antena 3 Televisi n (1898-1994). Asimismo fue miembro del Consejo Social de la Universidad de Deusto.
Su labor profesional ha sido reconocida con diversos galardones, entre los que se encuentran los de Mejor Empresario Vasco (1998), Mejor Gesti n Empresarial (revista Futuro 1998), Premio Valores de Empresa en Medios de Comunicaci n (Comit Organizador del Congreso de Valores de Empresa, a o 2000), Premio Jaume de Cordelles (ESADE, 2001), Miguel Moya (APM 2009) e Ilustre de Bilbao (Ayuntamiento de Bilbao 2009) y Premio ASTER de Comunicaci n 2013 a la mejor trayectoria profesional (Business & Marketing School ESIC).
