Rapid Flow launch Omniclock

New software-based MIDI multi-clock announced

Rapid Flow have just announced the launch of a new MIDI utility plug-in that aims to solve one of the most persistent frustrations faced by hybrid producers: getting external hardware and a DAW to feel truly in the pocket'.

Omniclock provides sub millisecond clock-shift adjustment resolution (0.25 ms steps) for supported MIDI output ports available through the operating system - including MIDI DIN, USB and virtual routing setups - while offering a selection of shuffle patterns that have been inspired by timing characteristics commonly associated with classic sequencers and drum machines.

The plug-in's timing profiles were developed through mathematical analysis, listening tests, and evaluation in studio environments, with each preset tuned with reference to timing characteristics commonly associated with the hardware styles that inspired it. The company say that the emphasis is on musical results, with the perceived differences varying depending on users' setup and material.

OB DM - a tight, punchy groove profile with subtle push-pull feel for crisp electronic rhythms.

M60 - a swing profile intended to evoke timing characteristics commonly associated with classic 12-bit sampling.

M3K - a versatile swing profile inspired by timing characteristics commonly associated with later classic hardware.

Berlin Bear MKI - Raw, precise analogue groove with slight forward momentum, inspired by timing characteristics commonly associated with modern analogue drum machines.

Rapid Flow are keen to point out that the profiles are designed to add hardware-inspired pocket and movement , and are not simple MIDI templates or single-function swing presets. They are offered as creative timing interpretations and do not claim to be an exact emulation of any third-party product.

Compatibility Omniclock is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
