PBS Appoints Rebecca Reed as Vice President, Business Affairs

ARLINGTON, VA; March 19, 2019 - PBS today named Rebecca ( Becky ) Reed as Vice President, Business Affairs. She will report to Perry Simon, PBS Chief Programming Executive and General Manager for General Audience Programming.

In this role, Ms. Reed will strategize on PBS business initiatives and will structure, negotiate and help draft content acquisition and program-related deals that are consistent with PBS policies and business objectives. She will start her new position on May 6, 2019.

We're excited to have Becky join the PBS team. She brings a wealth of experience in media negotiation and content acquisition, said Simon. Her legal skills, paired with her previous content and programming deal-making experience, make her a perfect fit for the role of Vice President of Business Affairs at PBS.

Reed has been a media lawyer for over 20 years, most recently serving as a Vice President in Discovery Inc.s Business and Legal Affairs group, working with a number of Discovery's networks. During her time at Discovery, Reed negotiated production, sponsorship and trade-out agreements, and talent deals for many of the Discovery Channels highest-performing shows. Most recently, she served as the principal business affairs negotiator and lawyer for Science Channel, advising network executives on business strategy and deal making, negotiating and drafting production and talent agreements, and pre-publication review. Reed previously served the same role at TLC.

Before working at Discovery, Reed was an associate in the media, first amendment, and entertainment legal groups at Davis Wright Tremaine. She received her B.A. from the University of Michigan and received her J.D. from The George Washington Law School.
