Zixi, the industry leader for enabling dependable, live broadcast-quality video over any IP network and provider of the award-winning Software-Defined Video Platform (SDVP ) has announced that RCN Colombia, a prominent news, sports, and entertainment network in Latin America, has implemented Zixi to distribute its premium content to affiliates across the United States.
RCN Colombia, a leading provider of captivating telenovelas, breaking news, major sporting events and diverse entertainment with a wide audience across the LATAM region, has seen a significant surge in demand from the United States as interest in Spanish-language content grows. RCN s mission is to inform, entertain, and connect viewers with content that reflects the culture and values of Latin America. By integrating Zixi into its operations, RCN has streamlined content distribution, eliminating the need for traditional satellite and fiber infrastructure. Utilizing Zixi-as-a-Service (ZaaS), RCN has smoothly transitioned to a cost-effective cloud infrastructure while maintaining the reliability traditionally associated with satellite delivery. Central to this transformation is the Zixi Broadcaster, which serves as the bridge for content from on-premises sources to the cloud. Within the cloud environment, the Zixi SDVP efficiently processes and distributes content to affiliates, all managed by ZEN Master, the cloud control plane that ensures operational efficiency and end-to-end visibility.
The Zixi Enabled Network is trusted by over 1,000 media companies and supported by more than 400 technology partners, empowering content owners like RCN to expand their audience reach with ease. The widespread adoption of Zixi by major U.S. operators, including Charter, Dish, and Verizon, allowed RCN to transition from traditional workflows to IP-based distribution without the need for new development or hesitation from partners. With the shift to IP distribution enabled by Zixi s SDVP, the new system not only accelerates the onboarding of new affiliates but also improves operational agility and reduces costs. By replacing cumbersome satellite farms with streamlined on-premises servers and leveraging the vast Zixi Enabled Network, RCN can deliver its content to new markets and explore additional revenue streams without the burden of significant upfront infrastructure costs.
Zixi's well-known reliability and scalability, backed by patented features like Hitless Failover and efficient protocols, ensure smooth content delivery. The Zixi-as-a-Service platform offers all the benefits of the SDVP, providing a cost-effective cloud infrastructure that reduces the time and resources needed for system setup, allowing RCN to focus more on business growth and revenue generation. Additionally, Zixi s protocol optimization helps lower egress costs and reduces the overall computing power needed, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership for RCN. The easy-to-use ZEN Master interface gives engineers and operators the tools they need to manage, control, and monitor signals across the distribution network. The advantages of the Zixi protocol, enhanced by patented hitless failover, ensure reliable signal transmission.
