WRAL-TV's 2022 Coats For The Children Raises Over $156k

Viewers across the Triangle once again stepped up to give the gift of warmth this holiday season. WRAL's 34th Annual Coats for the Children campaign wrapped up at the end of December raising a total of more than $156,000 to help the Salvation Army support area children and families in need. Thousands of coats were also collected at neighborhood Jiffy Lubes that are now waiting to be sorted, cleaned, and distributed this winter.

The Coats For The Children Telethon on Friday, December 9, 2022, featured the return of the phone bank with some new and familiar volunteers taking viewer calls.

It was a great feeling to have the excitement and energy of the volunteers, back in the building and supporting this cause, said Local Production Manager Don Ursich. Seeing all of the support from our partners and sponsors really shows how important and impactful this campaign is and can be for the community.

As an added holiday treat, the Southern Snowman delivered some flakes while the Oakwood Waits performed some seasonal classics.

The telethon day concluded with one last memorable moment! WRAL's Joe Fisher received a donation for $10,000 from an anonymous viewer during the end of the telethon broadcast. Knowing what those dollars or donations of any amount can do for the families in our area, can't help but bring a smile to your face.
