Berklee's Two Track music video series features some of the most talented artists from the Berklee community performing in a stripped-down recording session filmed in continuous camera shots with just a single microphone. Launched in September 2021, the performances, which have collected over 400,000 views to date, premiere every Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. ET on the college's YouTube channel.
Each installment of Two Track revolves around a monthly theme that the artist engages with, either through their choice of songs and/or through a short storytelling segment recorded as part of the session. This month's featured artists explored the concept of renewal.
Guy Gottesfeld is a guitarist and composer who draws inspiration from a wide range of genres, including blues, jazz, African, and Cuban music. He opened the month with a performance of Samba pro Rapha by Yamandu Costa, a seven-string guitar virtuoso from Brazil. On his original song Memories, Gottesfeld was joined by Bahar Badieitabar (oud) and Mahya Hamedi (voice) from Iran. He is currently working on his second full-length album, which will feature musicians from all over the world striving for a sound thats nostalgic yet new.
Stella Beams mesmerized viewers with her soulful rendition of Bob Dylans Dont Think Twice, Its All Right and her original track Take a Breath In. Hailing from Weiser, Idaho, Beams's music blends indie folk and country, with lyrics inspired by nature and lifes hardships. The singer's first two singles, Wait for You and Killer of the Light, are available now on all streaming platforms, and her debut EP is coming soon.
Alice Liu performed her rendition of Jojis Slow Dancing in the Dark and her original track Sunrise. Liu is a singer-songwriter and designer weaving fairytales with a voice that feels timeless and unravels in light, color, and memories. She was born in Yantai, China, and moved to Nova Scotia, Canada, when she was 8 years old. Fascinated with other peoples stories, she began playing the piano at a young age and discovered a love for singing. Inspired by contemporary artists such as SZA, Lana Del Rey, and Kali Uchis, Liu's musical style blends her velvety vintage voice with fantasies and observations of the world into sounds that almost feel touchable.
