CAMBRIDGE, Mass. May 26, 2015 Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) services, will use its presence at Velocity, taking place May 27-29, 2015 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, CA, to showcase the Companys web performance optimization expertise. Further, Akamai will illustrate the role HTTP/2 is expected to play in the future of the web and demonstrate how the Akamai Intelligent Platform is designed to improve the performance and security of modern web sites using this new protocol.

Through a variety of speaking sessions as well as booth demonstrations (Booth #608), Akamai will show attendees how its Web Performance Solutions and Cloud Security Solutions can help organizations across industries to improve web site performance and reduce the risk of downtime. Technology demonstrations planned for Velocity include:

HTTP/2: Akamai is the first CDN to support the newly ratified HTTP/2 protocol. The company has been a key contributor to the definition of HTTP/2 and, via live demonstrations, will show how Akamai is supporting the new protocol to improve web site performance.

Akamai Cloud-Based Image Management Solutions: Akamai will showcase a proof-of-concept, cloud-based image management solution that is designed to enable companies to simplify and automate the process of creating and delivering rich images to any user, on any device, and anywhere.

Akamai Cloud Security Solutions: Through this demonstration, attendees will be able to see what a simulated DDoS or Slowloris attack can do to an unprotected site and how Akamai Cloud Security Solutions can help protect against performance degradation or downtime.

Convince Your CFO to Invest in Performance: On Wednesday, May 27, 2015, 3:30 - 5 p.m., in Mission City M1-2, Colin Bendell, Akamai Web Technology Evangelist, will participate in this featured session to address the basics of operational and capital costs and how to relate them to performance initiatives. He will review several easy-to-implement financial models that will help attendees champion performance initiatives that can benefit their businesses.

Overcoming the Challenges of Image Delivery: On Friday, May 29, 2015, 10:25 a.m., in Mission City Ballroom, Mohammed Aboul-Magd, Akamai Senior Product Manager, will present a keynote on how to deal with the expanding number of images on the Web, how to eliminate the complexity of creating an image variant for every possible situation and determining when to deliver the right image variant and how to streamline the image workflow to reduce cost and increase operational efficiency.

Mobile Image Processing: On Friday, May 29, 2015, 2:40 p.m., in Mission City Ballroom GH, Tim Kadlec, Akamai Web Technology Evangelist, will discuss mobile image processing and explain its limitations, impact and how attendees can best handle mobile image processing for their own sites.
