BangZilla release Wave Theory

Creates melodies from wavetables

BangZilla is the new plug-in division of The Audio Programmer, and their debut offering comes in the form of Wave Theory, a MIDI plug-in that generates melodic lines based on the shape of an imported waveform.

Developed alongside UK-based instrument maker Boxed Ear, Wave Theory generates evolving lines that remain locked to the user's key and tempo, and can be routed to any hardware or software synth. Getting started is as simple as loading a waveform, picking a key and scale and routing it to an instrument. A built-in selection of wavetables are provided, and also allows users to import their own. The plug-in is equipped with four sequencer lanes, each of which can be assigned its own length and speed settings, and includes an set of controls that are designed to encourage users to experiment with note probability, timing and so on.

Key Features

Waves Become Melodies: The shape of any of the 100+ wavetables is turned into an evolving melody line, and you can import your own.

Four Parallel Sequencers: New movement on every pass, always under your control.

Always In Key: A central quantiser sets the key and scale, and can follow the chords you play so Wave Theory stays with your song.

Sixteen Memory Slots: Capture a variation you love and trigger saved states live from a MIDI controller.

Bring Your Own Waveforms: Wave Theory reads standard wavetable files, so shapes from Serum, Vital and other wavetable synths work directly.

Drives Anything: Wave Theory sends MIDI, not audio, so it plays through every hardware and software synth in a setup, with negligible CPU usage.

The music we make and the tools we use to create them are growing closer than ever, and we want to push that forward, says. Wave Theory is our first attempt to dive into something new and fun, rather than a tired repeat of the old. Im proud of what weve created together. - Joshua Hodge, Founder, BangZilla
