Schaeffler auf der Hannover Messe 2013 (Halle 22, Stand A12)
Wasserkraft: Korrosionsresistente und mediengeschmierte Wlzlager
Die Wasserkraft wird neben Windkraft und Solarenergie mageblich zur Energieversorgung der Zukunft mit erneuerbaren Energien beitragen. Das gilt fr klassische Anwendungen wie Speicher-, Pumpspeicher- oder Laufwasserkraftwerke ebenso wie fr neue Formen der maritimen Wasserkraft. Hierzu zhlen insbesondere die Energie aus Strmungs- und Wellenkraft. In der klassischen Wasserkraft ist Schaeffler seit vielen Jahren ein angesehener und enger Entwicklungspartner und Zulieferer. Aber auch Anwendungen der Strmungs- und Wellenenergie gewinnen zunehmend an Bedeutung. Je nach Konzept sind spezielle Lagerlsungen zum Beispiel fr Turbinen, Schwimmkrper, Bojen oder oszillierende Tragflchen erforderlich.
Nicht-hermetische Dichtungen und Verzicht auf Schmierstoff
Die Umgebungsbedingungen im bzw. unter Wasser stellen besondere Anforderungen an die Lagerung. Schaeffler entwickelt hierfr Lagerungen, die direkt im Wasser eingesetzt werden knnen. Das Medium Wasser selbst bernimmt hier die Schmierung. Dazu setzt Schaeffler fr die Wlzlagerringe einen speziellen korrosionsfesten Stahl ein. Die Wlzkrper sind beispielsweise aus Keramik. Die Kfige, die die Wlzkrper fhren, sind aus speziellen, wasserbestndigen Kunststoffen gefertigt. Dazu kommen nicht-hermetische, leichte Dichtungen, die zwar Wasser ins Wlzlager eindringen lassen, Partikel aber vom Wlzkontakt fernhalten. Bei diesen Entwicklungen kann Schaeffler auf jahrzehntelange Erfahrung in der Werkstofftechnik sowie in der Oberflchenbeschichtung und Dichtungstechnik zurckgreifen.
Schaeffler verzichtet also auf schwere, reibungsintensive Dichtungen. Dadurch knnen die Anlagen sehr viel energieeffizienter betrieben werden. Da das Wasser selbst die Schmierung des Wlzlagers bernimmt, kann auf den Einsatz von l und Fett weitgehend verzichtet werden. Beim Einsatz im Wasser bedeutet dies einen erheblichen kologischen Vorteil. Bei allen Lsungen spielen Zuverlssigkeit und Wartungsarmut eine entscheidende Rolle, da die Anlagen einmal unter der Wasseroberflche installiert fr Instandhaltungsarbeiten nur eingeschrnkt bzw. mit hohem Aufwand zu erreichen sind.
Erste Prototypen der mediengeschmierten Wlzlager sind in Pilotprojekten zum Beispiel in Nordamerika bereits im Einsatz.
Konzepte fr Strmungs- und Wellenkraftwerke
Zur Nutzung von Strmungs- und Gezeitenenergie werden zum Beispiel Axialturbinen unter Wasser installiert. Wie der Luftstrom bei einer Windkraftanlage bewegt die Wasserstrmung den Rotor, der dadurch Strom erzeugt. Eine Abwandlung dieses Prinzips stellt eine Axialturbine dar, die den Venturi-Effekt nutzt. Dabei wird das Wasser durch ein sich zur Mitte hin verjngendes Rohr geleitet. Die Strmungsgeschwindigkeit des Wasser wird dadurch erhht, ebenso wie die Energieausbeute. Vergleichbar mit dem Einsatz von Axialturbinen sind auch Konzepte, bei denen Radialturbinen eingesetzt werden. Ein weiteres Prinzip zur Nutzung der Wasserstrmung stellen oszillierende Tragflchen dar. Ihr Neigungswinkel kann so verstellt werden, dass die Wasserstrmung eine Auf- und Abbewegung der Tragflche ermglicht, vergleichbar mit der Schwanzflosse eines Delphins. Diese Bewegung wird genutzt, um Strom zu erzeugen. Unterschiedlichste Konzepte werden derzeit auch zur Nutzung der Wellenenergie entwickelt. So werden zum Beispiel mehrere auf der Wasseroberflche liegende Schwimmkrper mit Gelenken miteinander verbunden. Aus der relativen Bewegung der Schwimmkrper zueinander kann so Strom erzeugt werden. Ein hnliches Prinzip kommt bei Bojen zum Einsatz, deren vertikale Bewegung ausgelst durch den Wellengang zur Stromproduktion eingesetzt wird. Die Bojen knnen alleinstehend arbeiten und einen Generator unter Wasser antrieben. Bei einem anderen Konzept werden zahlreiche Bojen in Reihe eng aneinander gesetzt, so dass sie dem Wellengang an der Wasseroberflche wie ein Tausendfler folgen. Vergleichbar mit den horizontal oszillierenden Tragflchen bei der Nutzung der Strmungsenergie werden in der Wellenkraft auch vertikal oszillierende Klappen eingesetzt. Diese bewegen sich ber eine Gelenkverbindung analog zum Wellengang. Schwimmende Becken wiederum fangen die Wellen ber eine Rampe in Ufernhe ein. Das zurckstrmende Wasser treibt dann eine Turbine an. Oszillierende Wassersulen verfgen ber eine Kammer mit einer ffnung ober- und einer unterhalb der Wasseroberflche. Die Wellen bewegen die entstehende Wassersule in der Kammer zyklisch auf und ab. Die sich verndernde Luftdruckdifferenz zwischen Kammer und Umgebung wird dazu verwendet, eine Luftturbine anzutreiben.

Neben der Kompetenz der Vertriebsingenieure und der Schaeffler Technology Center vor Ort beim Kunden kann Schaeffler insbesondere auch auf umfangreiche anwendungstechnische Expertise in den zentralen Branchenmanagements sowie auf das gebndelte Know-how der zentralen Entwicklungsbereiche zurckgreifen.
