Hong Kong Delegation

As part of our enhanced suite of services to members, we will lead a delegation to the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), Asia's largest entertainment market, from March 23 - 26, 2015.

Cheryl Conway, our International Market and Content Producer, who produces the International Partnerships Market and manages the overseas delegations to the annual Australian screen industry conference SCREEN FOREVER, will accompany the delegation of 13 producers.

Those attending are Monica Penders (ScreenACT/Batavia Creative), Joyce Smith (Content Corner), Pauline Chan (Darkroom Films), Deidre Kitcher (Filmscope Entertainment), Robert Macklin and Cindy Li (JIA Films), Lina Silva (Kreiworks), Ian Hart and Jun Xiao (Peace Mountain Productions), Andrew Marriott and Rohan Taylor (SilverSun Pictures), Aidan O'Bryan and Janelle Landers (WBMC). The delegation is a mixture of producers seeking to establish and/or enhance relationships with Asian producers and financiers.

This is the first international delegation officially led by Screen Producers Australia and coincides with the appointment to our organisation of Peter Herbert to the new role of Manager of Business Services and Content. Peter will be responsible for developing the new Business Services division at Screen Producers Australia.

Matthew Deaner, Chief Executive of Screen Producers Australia, said: Our decision to make FILMART our first international delegation recognises the importance Australian producers place on building partnerships and opportunities for co-production and co-investment in Asia, particularly in China.

It also reflects our ongoing work on behalf of our members to build alliances and partnerships with international organisations such as the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), CMPA/Canada, PACT/UK, PGA/USA, SPADA/NZ and CFPA/China.

Mr Deaner thanked the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, in particular Bonnie Shek, Director, Australia and New Zealand, and her interest in developing the relationship with Screen Producers Australia to promote opportunities for business development and co-productions between Australia and Hong Kong.

Mr Deaner said this was also an opportune time to welcome Peter Herbert to Screen Producers Australia.

Over the past year Screen Producers Australia has been building our Business Services to provide our members a program of strategic and targeted networking opportunities throughout the year, priority and discounted ticketing to the annual SCREEN FOREVER conference, and other events such as Business Classes and the popular Breakfast Briefings, as well as in the key areas of industrial and commercial affairs. Peter will bring an experienced hand to assist to further develop the range of services we offer members, Mr Deaner said.
