SA MUSIC UNDER THE GRAMMY SPOTLIGHT The aim of the live panel discussion is to celebrate music from around the world with the spotlight firmly on SA music.

The event which live-streamed on the museum's Facebook page, also included live a performance by dance music star Zakes Bantwini who along with SA Grammy award-winning flautist Wouter Kellerman and singer Nomcebo Zikode (of Jerusalema fame) are nominated for their collaboration Bayethe in the category Best Global Performance.
Kellerman, know as the flute painter performed a special piece, to paint Nelson Mandela's life with a flute'. The music starts peacefully, illustrating Mandela's childhood, in the countryside tending to cattle, before Kellerman ups the rhythm as Madiba moves to the hustle and bustle of the city. The piece ends on a peaceful note as Mandela retires to spend time with his family, knowing his legacy will sustain us far into the future .

BAYETHE' UP FOR THE BEST GLOBAL PERFORMANCE During the discussion Bantwini emphasised the importance of working together and revealed all his top hits have been collaborations, SA People reports.
The South African panelists - Bantwini, Mhlungu and GridWorldwide CEO Adam Byars - spoke about the power of music to be truly global and move people with a feeling' rather than lyrics.
Talking about SA's own Grammy nomination, talent manager and IMG Africa CEO Sibo Mhlungu says: Bayethe is a truly global record that speaks to the dynamism and undeniable talent of all three artists, and we're really proud to be able to showcase our work on the world stage.
Multiplatinum-selling recording artist Zikode was not part of the live stream, although she's just as ready to take the Grammy Awards by storm as she did the world with her powerful vocal performance in Jerusalema'!
The 2023 Grammy awards will take place on Sunday and is hosted by fellow South African, comedian Trevor Noah.
