ARGENTINA NAMED MIPCOM 2013 COUNTRY OF HONOUR
THE ARGENTINE NATIONAL FILM BOARD (INCAA)
PARTNERS WITH REED MIDEM FOR MIPCOM FOCUS ON ARGENTINA
Cannes April 8, 2013 Reed MIDEM today announces that Argentina has been named MIPCOM 2013 Country of Honour. Organised by Reed MIDEM, MIPCOM will take place in Cannes, 7-10 October.
In partnership with the Argentine National Film Board (Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales), MIPCOM will organise a dedicated focus on Argentinas vibrant television, film and digital media industries, featuring a wide-ranging programme of high-level conferences, screening showcases, co-production matchmaking, and Argentine-themed networking events. The protocol was signed on the opening day of MIPTV 2013 by Reed MIDEM CEO Paul Zilk and INCAA President Liliana Mazure.
The Focus on Argentina will run throughout MIPJunior (Oct. 5-6) and MIPCOM (Oct. 7-10) and will highlight Argentinas world-renowned television and film production industry with the aim of providing the worlds entertainment executives the opportunity to discover the countrys rich content offering across drama, TV films, documentary and animation, in addition to co-production funding incentives and location scouting throughout Argentina.
Argentina is a global TV production powerhouse, renowned for its international award-winning TV series and films, said Laurine Garaude, Director of Reed MIDEMs Television Division. The Argentine National Film Board plays a critical role in supporting the growing contingency of independent Argentine producers attending our markets. This country focus at MIPCOM will invite delegates from across the globe to discover the diversity and richness of content produced across Argentina. We are thrilled to name Argentina as our 2013 Country of Honour.
From Ushuaia in the south, to La Quiaca in the north, including the global production capital of Buenos Aires, Argentina stands apart in Latin America as a truly dynamic producer of television content for international markets, said Liliana Mazure, President of INCAA. The MIPCOM focus on Argentina is a unique platform for international buyers, co-producers and distributors to discover the quality, vision and diversity of our content and original stories. The Argentine National Film Board is delighted to partner with Reed MIDEM to present Argentina as the MIPCOM 2013 Country of Honour.
A dedicated Focus on Argentina web page at mipcom.com will provide a reference point for the Focus on Argentina programme and connect participants to Argentine producers attending the market. MIPCOM 2012 attracted more than 144 Argentine delegates from 48 Argentine companies. Leading exhibitors include INCAA, The Argentina Audiovisual/UCINE and Construir TV; as well Telefe International, Artear, American Video Films and Telefilms.

Since 1968, The Argentine National Film Board (INCAA) has supported excellence in cinema and visual arts production. Today INCAAs mission includes funding incentives for Argentinas world-class independent television producers. Just as their film industry grows every year, since 2010, television production has also been teeming with a wide variety of content. That important growth of the sector allowed the creation of TV programmes in which every voice within the immense framework of the Argentine audiovisual world can be heard.
About MIPTV Founded in 1963, MIPTV is the annual international market and creative forum for content on every screen. It brings professionals from the global TV and online content industry to Cannes, France, for four days of exhibition, conferences, screenings and networking. It is a key market for buying and selling content and early-stage content development.
