Operating results of the Telekom Slovenije Group during the first quarter of is year

Operating results of the Telekom Slovenije Group during the first quarter of this year Ljubljana, 30 May: The Telekom Slovenije Group generated EUR 190.5 million in operating revenues in the first quarter of 2013. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) amounted to slightly less than EUR 63 million, while earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) totalled EUR 20.3 million. A net profit of EUR 14.5 million was achieved. The aforementioned operating indicators were in line with the planned values, while compared with other operators in Europe they show that Telekom Slovenije ranks among the most successful in overcoming the general negative trends.

The business report for the aforementioned period was discussed and approved by Telekom Slovenijes Supervisory Board on 28 May. The Supervisory Board also discussed the materials for the 24th General Meeting of Telekom Slovenije d.d., the convocation of which will be published today, on 30 May 2013. The General Meeting will take place on 1 July. It will be proposed to the General Meeting that the dividend be paid in the amount of EUR 1.46 gross per share, and that the KPMG Slovenija, d. o. o. auditing company be approved for auditing its 2013 business results. The General Meeting shall also discuss the proposal that Marko Ho evar, PhD and and Jo e Pal nik be appointed as the new board members to represent capital.

The trend of declining revenues generated by traditional fixed and mobile telephony continues in the Telekom Slovenije Group, while growth in the broadband market and services based on that technology is slowing. In the mobile segment, there is a notable migration of subscribers to new, more affordable packages that include more services, while the number of traditional connections and the volume of traffic continue to decline in the fixed segment, which is also characteristic of other leading European operators. In order for operators to remain profitable, they can counter negative trends by consistently reducing all types of costs and by expanding operations and the range of products and services in the long term beyond traditional telecommunications activities to television, digital advertising, management services, cloud computing services and other ICT services. The same processes are being carried out at Telekom Slovenije, which continues to implement all measures to reduce costs, as well as activities to restructure the organisation, consolidate operations and stabilise revenues. Comparable data with other leading operators in Europe indicate that Telekom Slovenije ranks among the most successful in overcoming the general negative trends.

Worthy of particular note during the first quarter of the year are the operations of Telekom Slovenijes foreign subsidiaries. Negative trends at the Macedonian company One have reversed, and turned positive. The company is working intensively to attract new users and generate new revenue sources.

Measures were adopted at Ipko in Kosovo to stabilise the drop in revenues from incoming calls and reduce costs. Certain new mobile packages were introduced and the number of connections increased in all segments relative to the previous year. The companys net profit in the first quarter thus exceeded plans. The same is true for Aneks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where operating revenues and net profit exceeded the planned amounts. The sales process continues at the Albanian company Primo. However, key financial indicators were better than planned.

As previously announced, the Telekom Slovenije Group is planning EBITDA in the amount of EUR 245 million and a net operating profit of EUR 50 million. Investments in fixed assets in the amount of EUR 130 million are planned, the same as last year.
