KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will launch various services in addition to mobile communications including smartphones with the aim of promoting a lifestyle revolution which will make the daily life of users more convenient, exciting and enriched.

First of all in summer 2015 (scheduled), we will launch au WALLET Market, a new shopping service which delivers to users attractive food and daily commodities that are not usually available in conventional stores, by making use of au Shops [1] across Japan which are the biggest points of contact that link au with users.

This is the first time that a domestic telecommunications operator has proposed a new shopping experience to users, and we will venture into the full-scale product sales business by making use of our carrier shops. There are nearly 2,500 au Shops (as of May 14, 2015) across Japan, which are visited by about 10 million people every month. By delivering food and daily commodities to users in addition to telecommunication services, mobile phones and accessories, au Shops will change into a more familiar and attractive space.

At au WALLET Market, au Shop staff will use tablets to introduce products and subscription items that match the preferences and requests of users visiting the shop. The staff will also help to complete the purchase process so that users who do not have any experience in online shopping can use the service with peace of mind.

We will also offer an online shopping service that allows users to purchase select products and experience-based products in a simple way from their smartphones, PCs or tablets in collaboration with LUXA Inc. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director and President: Satoshi Murata, hereinafter LUXA).

When users use au WALLET to shop at au WALLET Market, they can pay with their WALLET points besides enjoying savings by earning up to a maximum of 3X WALLET points [2].

Through the au WALLET service, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will propose shopping services that various users can enjoy with peace of mind, such as shopping support in conventional stores (au Shops), convenient and advantageous payment methods (au Simple Payment, prepaid au WALLET Card) as well as select products from all over Japan that users have few opportunities to come across in daily life.

The service will be launched only in some shops initially. The number of target shops will be expanded gradually.

In cases where users choose to pay using au Simple Payment, au WALLET credit card on the au WALLET Market website. This includes points awarded by credit card companies (2 points for every 200 yen (including tax) spent using au WALLET credit card).
