Broadcast Pix To Demo New Software at NAB 2015

Upgrades Include PixPlay, Embedded Audio, Show Transfer' and Second Key Channel

Billerica, Massachusetts March 26, 2015 Broadcast Pix today announced Version 4.5 software for its Granite and Mica integrated production switchers, as well as Version 3.5 software for its Flint systems. The software upgrades include a number of new features, including a Show Transfer utility for use with multiple Broadcast Pix systems, integrated PixPlay slow motion support for Blackmagic Design and AJA Video Systems disk recorders, a second key channel for Granite X, and support for embedded audio across all switcher product lines. Broadcast Pix will demonstrate the new features at the 2015 NAB Show (Booth SL5625 ), which runs April 13-16 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The new Show Transfer utility allows organizations to back up and move all elements of a program between Broadcast Pix systems, including graphics, clips, and macros. Show Transfer makes it easy to create consistency between a system in a facility's main control room and a system that's been installed in a production truck or secondary studio, move existing show elements to one of Broadcast Pix's new Roadie mobile integrated production switchers, maintain redundancy for live events where more than one switcher has been deployed, or upgrade to a new Broadcast Pix system.

Ideal for almost any sports application, PixPlay allows any Broadcast Pix integrated production switcher to provide slo-mo control to a Blackmagic HyperDeck or AJA Ki Pro disk recorder. An operator can replay footage manually using controls on the front panel of the HyperDeck Studio or Ki Pro but with PixPlay, VTR control is ported to the production switcher along with six preset replay speeds. Users can also scrub or single step through a scene for better control and functionality, as well as mark an unlimited number of in points as part of a playback EDL for preparing a highlight reel.

The V4.5 upgrade adds embedded audio for Granite and Mica systems, which takes an analog line in and embeds it on the SDI outputs. For Granite X, Broadcast Pix's flagship integrated production system, the upgrade adds a second key/cut channel, which is ideal for providing a second external CG input. Both new software versions also include bug fixes and other enhancements.

Embedded audio will simplify production workflows for our customers. We already offer it with Flint, and now we've added that feature to our Granite and Mica systems, explained Steve Ellis, CEO of Broadcast Pix. Our customers have also asked for a way to share show elements between systems. Show Transfer helps television groups or organizations that have multiple Broadcast Pix systems deployed across facilities but want to maintain program consistency and redundancy. Version 4.5 software is free for Granite and Mica customers who have Version 4.0 or are under warranty. Flint Version 3.5 software is free for Flint customers under warranty or currently using V.3.0. The software upgrades are currently in beta and will be available in May. PixPlay will also be available separately for $495 in May.
