SGL Announces Major Flashnet archive installations at CNBC ASIA and CNBC Europe 18 March 2016

Fareham, UK 15th March, 2016 SGL, a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, has announced that CNBC Asia and CNBC Europe have installed FlashNet, SGL's sophisticated and scalable content management system. Both facilities are operated by Singapore-headquartered CNBC subsidiary CNBC International, which is wholly owned by NBCUniversal.

The installations at the headquarters of CNBC Asia in Singapore and CNBC Europe in London are identical. SGL FlashNet is fully integrated with Grass Valley's STRATUS production suite and manages a SpectraLogic T680 tape library. Access to the SGL archive is transparent via Grass Valley's toolset. The CNBC Asia project is part of a major upgrade whilst the installation at CNBC Europe provides a completely new archive environment.

The combined SGL and Grass Valley solution enables operators to work collaboratively and accomplish tasks in parallel. It also allows full support for GXF partial file restore; a critical feature for Grass Valley customers. Editors can select clips for archive or restore from the SGL archive via STRATUS and can also view low-res proxies of material held in the archive, and mark in and out points to restore just part of the clip.
