NFVF call for entries for The Doc Shop at Hot Docs 2014 --

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is seeking submissions for the South African contingent of documentaries participating at The Doc Shop, a program which runs concurrently with the Hot Docs festival in Toronto, Canada. Hot Docs is an internationally renowned documentary film festival, conference and marketing event and The Doc Shop is a marketplace for documentaries to be viewed by potential buyers, distributors, sales agents and programmers.

The deadline for all submissions is: noon, 14 March 2014 and no extensions are permissible.

South African filmmakers with projects that are currently in postproduction (who can provide a rough cut) or completed projects are eligible to enter. Documentaries of all lengths may be entered but would need to have been produced in the last 20 years and be available in the English language or subtitled in English.

Although there is no application form, filmmakers are required to provide the following items in order to be considered:

Logline

List of key creative team

Poster

A DVD of the film

The benefits of having a film selected to participate in The Doc Shop include:

-The Festival Doc Shop is a fully digital, on-site video library that offers accredited Conference and Networking Pass and All-Access Pass holders on-demand access to 1500 documentaries, including many of the Festival s official selection.

-Visibility of the film on an international platform.

-The film may receive interest which could potentially lead to sales.

-After the festival and conference, The Doc Shop Online provides year-round access to films for registered buyers, distributors, sales agents and festival programmers.

Selected documentaries will reflect and celebrate South Africa s 20th year of democracy and the NFVF reserves the right to select qualifying films.
