The New Rio Film Commiion presents its Working Agenda

Under the leadership of its President, Steve Solot, a new highly-qualified team has been formed in the Rio Film Commission (RFC) to expand national and international scope of operations in its two primary areas of focus: the attraction of national and international audiovisual content productions, and the logistical and administrative support for on-location shooting throughout the City and State of Rio de Janeiro. The new team includes Fernanda Toledo, Production and Outreach Coordinator, Tania Pinta, Production Manager and Myllena Oliveira, Administrative and Financial Manager.

The RFC is a project of the Interstate Audiovisual Industry Union SICAV (Sindicato Interestadual da Industria Audiovisual), and is sponsored by RioFilme, the municipal audiovisual content promotion and investment company of Rio de Janeiro. Through a cooperation agreement with the Rio de Janeiro State Secretary of Culture, the RFC scope of operations includes the entire state. The office is located in Laranjeiras and housed in the same building with RioFilme, its sponsoring institution.. Consistent with its primary focus on making Rio de Janeiro "film friendly" the RFC has developed a working agenda for the balance of 2014 including the following highlights:

- To serve the film, television and digital media industries locally, nationally and internationally;

- To assist productions with finding potential filming locations, guide them through local and national regulations and legislation, consult with productions regarding financial aspects of their projects, and connect productions with the crew, vendor services and film liaisons throughout the state;

- To standardize and streamline the permitting and authorization procedures by municipal and state authorities;

- To develop a system of selective automatic permits for productions with specific characteristics;

- To create awareness among Rio de Janeiro City and State government and private-sector entities about the need to maintain filming fees at realistic levels in order to preserve Rio s international competitive edge;

- To promote both the City and the State audiovisual sector in international markets and festivals;

- To propose new national and international cross-promotional agreements and partnerships to attract more producers to Rio, and to update and renew those that already exist.
