Sonuscore introduce Fantasy Vocal Phrases

Launched alongside new Vocal Phrases bundle

Sonuscore's latest release has been designed specifically for composers working on fantasy TV, film and game scores, and brings together a collection of vocal phrases sung in an improvised fantasy language.

All of the content found in Fantasy Vocal Phrases has been recorded by Katharina Wirtz, a professional singer whose credits include The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle and Anno 117: Pax Romana. Being a phrase-based instrument rather than a traditional sampler, the new arrival provides users with complete musical ideas performed by a real singer rather than 'stitching together' multiple notes. The parts are sung in an improvised language made up from phonetic elements rather than real words, an approach which Sonuscore say has resulted in phrases that feel linguistically believable while remaining completely abstract.

Everything has been recorded in all 12 keys, so every phrase can be made to fit in with any composition, and the instrument comes equipped with a phrase builder that makes it possible to combine parts of different phrases to create new variations. There's also an FX page that houses built-in four-band EQ, delay and reverb processors.

Compatibility Fantasy Vocal Phrases requires the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt version 6.8.1 or higher - it will not work with the free Kontakt Player - which is supported on PCs running Windows 7 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.

Pricing & Availability Fantasy Vocal Phrases is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of $79.99£65 until 7 April 2026, when it will increase to its full cost of $99.99£75. The release is also included in a new bundle that includes all five of Sonuscore's Vocal Phrases libraries, and costs $299£225. Prices include VAT.
