Blancco Earns DIPCOG Approval for File, Mobile and LUN Data Erasure Products - Sep 23 2014 UK's Defence Infosec Product Co-Operation Group (DIPCOG) approves erasure software for use with mobile devices, logical units (LUNs) and individual files

London, UK, September 23, 2014 - For the first time, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and other government departments and agencies have access to DIPCOG-approved data erasure products for tablets, smartphones, and LUNs from Blancco, the global leader in data erasure and computer reuse solutions. Blancco Mobile and Blancco LUN have been approved to remove data classified up to the Official Sensitive (OS) level, making them the only solutions of their type to achieve this approval level. DIPCOG also stipulated that the products can receive a higher classification at the discretion of an agency's Head of Security (PSyA).

Blancco's data erasure solutions directly overwrite the whole storage capacity with redundant data. Unlike physical destruction, overwriting leaves the equipment functional so it can be reused instead of destroyed, as often happens with equipment containing sensitive data. The DIPCOG approved products include:

Blancco Mobile securely erases internal memory of smartphones or tablets, protecting against data compromise when disposing of these devices, which may contain sensitive or highly classified data.

Blancco LUN erases individual drives, as well as logical drives (such as LUNs), in an active storage environment. It simultaneously erases multiple units of any disk drive type supported by UNIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows (including ATA, SCSI, FC and iSCSI), offering an automated and cost-effective alternative to destroying valuable equipment.

In addition to the DIPCOG approvals for Blancco LUN and Blancco Mobile, Blancco File was again approved by DIPCOG for secure erasure of selected files and folders on active systems. This software protects against data compromise when sensitive or highly classified data is placed on devices of a lower classification.
