The NHL has mastered the outdoor hockey event, but 2026 offers a unique set of challenges as both the Winter Classic on Jan. 2 and the Stadium Series on Feb. 1 take the sport outdoors in the state of Florida.
We spoke with the NHL's EVP, Entertainment Bob Chesterman on how the league has turned its tentpole outdoor games into such a success, what makes the games in Florida a challenge, and what fans can expect from these upcoming events.
