Communication and comfort reach new heights with the Sennheiser S1 Passive Helicopter headset

Ready for take-off? It doesn't matter if you are on a scenic flight or en route between destinations - pilots always need to be confident that their voice communication is fully reliable. This is particularly relevant for helicopters, where noise levels can be very high. Meeting this challenge, Sennheiser has launched the S1 Passive Helicopter headset with the helicopter specific U/174 plug. The model offers the same excellent passive noise attenuation, proven Sennheiser audio quality and the equally high level of wearing comfort as the fixed wing variant, the S1 Passive. The full-sized headset was specifically designed for pilots who require outstanding noise attenuation but do not wish to use an active headset.

Protection against volume peaks in radio communications

The S1 Passive Helicopter headset ensures secure and clear speech transmission between cockpit and control tower, says David Dunlap, Director Sennheiser Aviation. A special feature of the Passive headset is ActiveGard , which protects the pilot's hearing against the extreme volume peaks that can occur during radio communication. If a signal above 110 dB is received, ActiveGard automatically compresses the sound: everything remains clearly intelligible, but at a healthy volume.

Enjoy music and make phone calls in the cockpit

The S1 Passive Helicopter headset can be connected to both audio devices and mobile phones. When playing music, the headset delivers Sennheiser's usual superior level of audio quality. However, as soon as the pilot is contacted by the tower, the music or phone call is automatically muted.

The contact pressure of the S1 Passive Helicopter headset can be adjusted in three levels, while the ear cushions feature an innovative eyeglasses zone' where special soft padding provides space for the temple arms. This ensures that pilots can easily find an optimum balance between good noise attenuation and a comfortable fit, enabling them to fully concentrate on flying.

The S1 Passive Helicopter headset is part of the S1 family of general aviation headsets, which Sennheiser launched with the S1 Digital. Sennheiser provides a five-year guarantee for the S1 Passive Helicopter headset, which is made in Germany. It is now available from authorised Sennheiser Aviation Premium dealers.
