dB Broadcast chooses ICE for new SSVC broadcast facility line 18 March 2016
SAM's market-leading Channel-in-a-Box to deliver flexibility, scalability and reliability for British Forces Broadcasting Service
Newbury, UK, 15 March 2016:
dB Broadcast, one of the UK's largest systems integrators, has purchased SAM ICE Channel-in-a-Box systems with Morpheus automation to handle ingest and playout for the new state-of-the-art production and transmission facility it has constructed for the Services Sound and Vision Corporation (SSVC) at Chalfont in the UK. SSVC provides welfare entertainment and information to British service personnel and their families worldwide under the BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) banner.
The new facility, encompassing both equipment rooms and operational areas was commissioned with a controlled migration program to ensure that broadcasting operations were continued uninterrupted. The new system successfully went on air in December 2015.
The SSVC playout operation is based on four ICE and two ICE LE systems, providing ingest and redundant playout for BFBS's 15 TV channels that are broadcast live to armed forces personnel in over 23 countries and to British Navy ships at sea. Morpheus automation enables full integration with SSVC's Provys traffic system and IPV MAM.
dB have supplied and commissioned the SAM automation products for several major clients and they were an obvious choice for this application, said Tom Swan, Sales and Marketing Director at dB Broadcast.
