Television Archives Manager Johannesburg

The processing of all commissioned content to ensure long-term preservation, the timely receipt and delivery of all broadcast related content with a focus on improved client services and the execution of client requests for research and re-purposing of television material.

This person will work with the Media Coordinators and Archivists to ensure the successful long-term preservation of M-Net's audiovisual content and to provide an organised, accessible, easily retrievable bank of information with the aim to re-use and re-purpose the content. Furthermore, this person will be required to regularly meet and work with all major stakeholders, internally and externally to ensure optimal service delivery.

Overseeing the efficient and effective collecting, cataloguing and storage of television material, in order to ensure the preservation of M-Net's acquired content, easy retrieval, access and safeguarding of the collection.

Ensuring effective maintenance of updated and accurate databases.

Motivating and requesting capital expenditure and, on approval, ensure cost-effective utilisation of resources.

Keeping abreast of new developments in technology and industry trends regarding exchange of material and information

Education & Experience

Must have a degree in Information & Knowledge Management (or related Field) with experience in broadcast archiving at a supervisory managerial level

Must have more than 5 years' experience in broadcast archiving

Must have experience at a supervisory or management level

Must have an excellent understanding of the television archiving and video library processes and workflows

Must have knowledge of operational process improvement concepts.

Must have SLA and contract management experience

Must have excellent presentation skills
